Alameda, California City in California in the United States

Alameda is a city in Alameda County, California, United States. It is located on Alameda Island and Bay Farm Island, and is adjacent to and south of Oakland and east of San Francisco across the San Francisco Bay. Bay Farm Island, a portion of which is also known as "Harbor Bay Isle", is not actually an island, and is part of the mainland adjacent to the Oakland International Airport. The city's estimated 2017 population was 79,928. Alameda is a charter city, rather than a general law city, allowing the city to provide for any form of government. Alameda became a charter city and adopted a council–manager government in 1916, which it retains to the present.

It is a small publishing press "specializing in self-help books about health, relationships, abuse and sexuality." [2]

Two of its award-winning books are Look Great, Live Green: Choosing Beauty Solutions That Are Planet-Safe and Budget-Smart, a Benjamin Franklin Book Award winner, and The Highly Intuitive Child: A Guide to Understanding and Parenting Unusually Sensitive and Empathic Children, a finalist, in the 2010 Benjamin Franklin Book, from the Independent Book Publishers Association. [3]

The Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) is a not-for-profit membership organization serving the independent publishing community through advocacy and education. With nearly 3,000 members, IBPA is the largest publishing trade association in the United States. IBPA programs and publications include the Benjamin Franklin Awards, Publishing University, and the monthly Independent Magazine. IBPA was founded in 1983 as the Publishers Association of Southern California (PASCAL). It later became the Publishers Marketing Association (PMA). It adopted its present name in 2008.

Turner Publishing Company acquired Hunter House in 2014. [4]
