Hussain Nawaz Sharif (born 15 December 1971) is a Pakistani businessman who is the son of the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. [2]

He was named in Panama Papers [3] and is currently under investigation [4] in Panama Papers case. [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [ needs update ]

On 10 July 2017, JIT submitted the report revealing that Hussain Nawaz had failed to provide any documentation on Al-Azizia Steel Mill. [11]

He resides at the Sharif Villa in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where his father lived during his time in exile. [12]

Early life

He was born on 15 December 1971 in Lahore to Nawaz Sharif and Kulsoom Nawaz.

Hussain Nawaz Sharif has never been a political figure nor a public office holder. He left Pakistan in 1992 for Higher education. He graduated in Law from LSE and was also called to the bar from Lincoln’s Inn. He returned to Pakistan in 1996 and joined his family business. However, his grandfather transferred him to Sharif Trust, the former’s dream project. Hussain not only built the Sharif Educational Complex but also the Sharif Medical City. There are several institutes working under the umbrella of the Sharif Trust. He also started the Sharif Trust Educational Programme (STEP) for LLB degree under the University of London external Programme teaching. Many famous people, including anchor Muneeb Farooq and the controversial PM’s Advisor on Accountability Mirza Shehzad Akbar, got their LLB degrees through the Programme. Sharif Trust which was designated as an examination center by the University had to close STEP after the Sharif Family including Hussain Nawaz Sharif were illegally exiled from Pakistan in December 2000.[ citation needed ]

General elections were held in Pakistan on Wednesday, 25 July 2018 to elect the members of 15th National Assembly and the four Provincial Assemblies. The three major parties were Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by Imran Khan, the Pakistan Muslim League led by Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistan Peoples Party led by Bilawal Bhutto. The PTI won the most seats in the National Assembly but fell short of a majority; the party subsequently formed a coalition government with several smaller parties. At the provincial level, the PTI remained the largest party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP); the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) retained its dominance in Sindh and the newly formed Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) emerged as the largest party in Balochistan. In Punjab, the result was a hung parliament with the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) winning the most seats. However, after several independents MPAs joined the PTI, the latter became the largest party and was able to form a government.

Zahid Hamid is a Pakistani politician, and lawyer. A member of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Hamid previously served as the Minister for Law and Justice and Minister of Climate Change in the Third Sharif ministry between 2015 and 2017. He briefly served as the Minister of Law and Justice in June 2013 before being appointed as Minister of Science and Technology from June 2013 to November 2014. He again served as Minister for Law and Justice under Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi from August 2017 until he resignation in November 2017.

He was dismissed from service by Lahore High Court in 2020 over a videogate following the Nawaz Sharif's sentence in his court. He died due to COVID-19 on 4 December 2020.
