Hysterics is the second studio album released by British post-punk band The Nightingales. It was released in 1983 through the Red Flame record label and was distributed by Pinnacle. [1] In 2004, it was re-released by the Cherry Red record label. The album spent several weeks in the top 20 in the UK Indie Chart. [2]

James Robert described the album as "sharper" than their debut. [3]

The Nightingales British band

Nightingales are a British post-punk/alternative rock band, formed in 1979 in Birmingham, England, by four members of Birmingham's punk group The Prefects. They had been part of The Clash's 'White Riot Tour', recorded a couple of Peel Sessions, released a 45 on Rough Trade and, years after splitting up, had a retrospective CD released by New York indie label Acute Records.

Subhuman (song) 1995 single by Garbage

"Subhuman" is a 1995 song written, recorded and produced by alternative rock band Garbage, and was originally released as an international b-side on "Vow", Garbage's debut single. That song had earlier been pressed as a limited edition 7" vinyl in the United Kingdom for the purposes of launching the band; when it came to re-releasing "Vow", Mushroom Records felt that "Subhuman" was strong enough to be issued as an A-side to follow up "Vow". A last-minute decision was made to switch the songs. "Vow" was relegated to bonus track on the CD single.

Careful with That Axe, Eugene song by Pink Floyd

"Careful with That Axe, Eugene" is an instrumental piece by the British rock band Pink Floyd. The studio recording, first released in 1968 as the B-side to the single "Point Me at the Sky" also featured on the 1971 compilation album Relics. Live versions can be found on various releases, the most well-known of which from the 1969 double-album Ummagumma. Pink Floyd re-recorded the track for the 1970 film Zabriskie Point, retitling it "Come In Number 51, Your Time Is Up" on the film's soundtrack album. The track was one of several to be considered for the band's 2001 "best of" album, Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd, but it was ultimately omitted. Blue Orchids are an English post-punk band formed in Manchester in 1979, when Martin Bramah decided to quit The Fall after playing on the band's debut album Live at the Witch Trials. Christened by Salford-based punk poet John Cooper Clarke the band recorded for Rough Trade and acted as backing band for the Velvet Underground's Nico before a 25-year period of intermittent activity and alternative identities.

"Sinner Man" or "Sinnerman" is an African American traditional spiritual song that has been recorded by a number of performers and has been incorporated in many other media and arts. The lyrics describe a sinner attempting to hide from divine justice on Judgment Day. It was recorded in the 1950s by Les Baxter, the Swan Silvertones, the Weavers and others, before Nina Simone recorded an extended version in 1965.

"Time Is on My Side" is a song written by Jerry Ragovoy. First recorded by jazz trombonist Kai Winding and his orchestra in 1963, it was covered by both soul singer Irma Thomas first, in 1965, then a year later by the Rolling Stones.

piouhgd is the fifth studio album by American alternative rock band Butthole Surfers, released in 1991 on Rough Trade Records. The album was reissued on Capitol Records in 1992, due to the album being out-of-print following the American branch of Rough Trade closing its doors the previous year. Capitol had bought the rights to the album after its initial release, in order to lure the Butthole Surfers away from other labels. The album was reissued yet again in October 2007 by Butthole Surfers' own label, Latino Buggerveil, and included the four songs from their 1989 EP Widowermaker as bonus tracks.

Snoopy vs. the Red Baron (song) 1966 single by The Royal Guardsmen

"Snoopy vs. the Red Baron" is a novelty song written by Phil Gernhard and Dick Holler and recorded in 1966 by the Florida-based pop group The Royal Guardsmen. The song was recorded at the Charles Fuller Productions studio in Tampa, Florida, and was released as a single on Laurie Records. Debuting at #122 on the Bubbling Under the Hot 100 on December 10, 1966, the single skyrocketed to #30 on December 17, 1966, shot up again to #7 on December 24, 1966, and peaked at #2 on the Hot 100 during the week of December 31, 1966 ; made #6 on the Record Retailer (UK) chart in February 1967; was #1 in Australia for 5 weeks from February 1967; and #1 for 3 weeks in Canada. On the Hot 100, "Believer" at #1 kept "Snoopy" at #2 from reaching the Hot 100 summit from December 31, 1966, through January 21, 1967, after which "Snoopy" fell off while "Believer" stayed at the top for another 3 weeks.

Vampire Can Mating Oven is an EP by the alternative rock band Camper Van Beethoven, released in 1987. The EP includes satirical liner notes relating false stories behind the songs. A re-recorded version of "Never Go Back" was included the following year on the band's major label debut, Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart.
