I-95 soccer rivalries

There are several soccer rivalries between teams located in cities along Interstate 95. Often referred to individually as the I-95 derby there are several I-95 soccer rivalries. Any game between a team based along this highway can colloquially be referenced as an I-95 derby.

While I-95 runs from Maine to Florida, teams located south of Richmond, Virginia are generally not viewed as I-95 teams, regardless of their locations with respect to that highway. No league in the top three levels of U.S. men's soccer has more than one team in a city along I-95 south of Richmond, and the National Women's Soccer League has no such team.

New York Red Bulls American soccer club

The New York Red Bulls are an American professional soccer club based in the New York metropolitan area. The Red Bulls compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. The club was established in October 1994 and began play in the league's inaugural season in 1996 as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars. In 2006, the team was sold to Red Bull GmbH and re-branded as part of the company's global network of soccer clubs, hence its current name.

Sapong who scored 16 goals in a single season, eclipsing Sebastian Le Toux's record of 14 goals during the inaugural season.

The club's season is resumed on July 13, 2020 with the MLS is Back Tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Florida, where group stage fixtures counted towards the regular season standings. The season ended on November 8, 2020 with their final regular season match.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its ongoing vaccination efforts, the season began on April 17, 2021 and ended on November 7, 2021. Despite winning against Toronto FC on the last match of the regular season, the team did not qualify playoffs, making it their second consecutive season in which D.C. United did not qualify for the playoffs. It was the first time since 2011, that United did not qualify for the playoffs in consecutive seasons.

The 2021 season was the 26th in the history of the Major League Soccer club New England Revolution. The season began on April 17, 2021 and in addition to the league, the Revolution were also to compete in the 2021 U.S. Open Cup, before the competition was canceled in July.
