The Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology is a unit of the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign dedicated to interdisciplinary research. A gift from scientist, businessman, and philanthropist Arnold O. Beckman (1900–2004) and his wife Mabel (1900–1989) led to the building of the Institute which opened in 1989. It is one of five institutions which receive support from the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation on an ongoing basis. John Randolph Tucker High School is a public high school in the West End of Henrico County, Virginia, United States. It is named after lawyer and Henrico County Judge John Randolph Tucker. Its students and faculty often refer to themselves as “Tigers", and locals around the area often refer to the school as "Tucker". The school had approximately 1600 students and over 150 faculty members, 135 being teachers, during the 2014-15 school year. The school, being a magnet high school, attracts students from around Henrico County to participate in its International Baccalaureate Programme, Advanced College Academy, and immersive World Language Center (Immersion). The school is undergoing a renovation process. A new building, similar to Glen Allen High School, will be built on the athletic fields. Once that has completed, the current building will be demolished and athletic fields put in its place.

The Center of Alcohol Studies (CAS) is a multidisciplinary research institute located in the Busch Campus of Rutgers University, which performs clinical and biomedical research on alcohol use and misuse. The center was originally at Yale University and known as the Yale Center of Alcohol Studies, before it moved to Rutgers in 1962. The CAS is also home to the peer-reviewed Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs (JSAD), the oldest journal on alcohol studies; and a library of alcohol literature. Early research in the 1940s at the CAS helped support the disease model of addiction that helped change public perception on alcohol consumption.
