IF Boltic is a Swedish sports club from the town Karlstad. The club was founded in the district of Herrhagen in Karlstad on 1 November 1946.

The name Boltic was created due to the interest for British football, by adding the beginning of Bolton to the end of Celtic. Together, this makes Boltic. Originally, the club did not only play bandy, but had also sections for handball and association football.

IF Boltic was for a number of years the most successful bandy team in Sweden and also one of the best in the world. IF Boltic was until 2021 the only club which had managed to become Swedish champion for both men and women the same year.

IF Boltic was merged with IF Göta and formed the new club BS BolticGöta on 11 May 2000. However, the first team again played as IF Boltic from the winter of 2008-2009. [2] The club's general meeting then decided on 26 June 2014 to take back the club's old name IF Boltic. BS BolticGöta was thus history. [3]

Men's team

In the early and mid-1980s IF Boltic dominated Swedish bandy and became Swedish champions eight times from 1979 to 1988, all years except for 1986 and 1987 when they lost the finals against Vetlanda BK and IFK Motala respectively. Another national championship was won in 1995. The team also won the World Cup and the European Cup a number of times.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Elitserien (bandy)</span>

The Elitserien is since the 2007–08 season the highest bandy league in Sweden. It consists of 14 teams. The season ends with one final game in March. The final was held at Studenternas IP in Uppsala from 1991 until 2012. In 2013 and 2014 the final was played at Friends Arena in Solna, and from 2015 to 2017 it was played at the Tele2 Arena. The final returned to 4,600-capacity Studenternas IP indoor stadium in 2018.

Skutskärs IF is a bandy club in Skutskär, Sweden. The formal name of the club is Skutskärs IF/Bandyklubb. The team colours are green and yellow.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">IFK Uppsala Bandy</span>

IFK Uppsala Bandy is the bandy department of the IFK Uppsala sports club. The club was founded in 1895 and based in Uppsala, Sweden. The club played bandy, association football and athletics already from the start. IFK was one of the major clubs in all of these sports in the first half of the 20th century. In the 1940s it was also successful in handball.

IF Göta is a sports club in Karlstad, Sweden, founded in 1904. In the beginning, the club practised football and athletics. The club used to have a successful team in bandy, becoming Swedish champions six times, but now is only concentrated on athletics. The bandy department was merged with IF Boltic to form BS BolticGöta.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Nässjö IF</span> Ice hockey team in Nässjö, Sweden

Nässjö IF, full name Nässjö Idrottsförening, is a sports club in Nässjö, Sweden, mostly active with playing bandy. The club colours are blue and yellow, but the team uniforms are often in blue and white. The club was founded in 1899. The club is playing the home games at Stinsen Arena, which is named for Lennart "Stinsen" Israelsson, who donated 1 million SEK to the project.
