IMG Worlds of Adventure is an indoor amusement park in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is located on Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road within the City of Arabia.

The park is divided into five [1] [2] "epic zones." Two of the five zones represent global brands, Cartoon Network and Marvel, while the IMG Boulevard Zone, the Lost Valley-Dinosaur Adventure Zone, and the IMG Kids Zone are original concepts created by the IMG Group. The Novo Cinema is another section of IMG Worlds of Adventure. An agreement was signed between Novo Cinema and IMG World of Adventure in May 2015. [3] The park is the second-largest theme park in a temperature-controlled environment worldwide. IMG World has the capability to accommodate over 20,000 visitors daily.

History

The park was built by the Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari (IMG) Group as part of the City of Arabia development project, a part of Dubailand, which was stalled due to the 2008 property crash. [4] [5] In April 2014, the park received a Dh1.2 billion loan from the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank. [6] [7] IMG Worlds opened its gates to guests on August 15, 2016.

The theme park contains five themed "Epic Zones" and 17 rides. [8] [5] Falcon's Creative Group was the design company primarily involved in planning and designing the park. [9]

Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network is one of the Epic Zones and based on cartoon characters from Cartoon Network. It contains a 5D Ben 10 themed cinema and the largest Ben 10 themed store in the world. [10] [11]

Marvel

The Marvel epic zone is another of the themed areas based on characters from Marvel (The Walt Disney Company). [5] in June 2015 It was announced that this zone would feature a 3D media-based attraction called, "Avengers: Battle of Ultron." after the release of the movie the Avengers: Age of Ultron in May, 2015. [12]

Lost Valley-Dinosaur Adventure

The Lost Valley-Dinosaur Adventure Epic Zone was created with original Intellectual property for IMG Worlds of Adventure. This zone includes animatronic dinosaurs and roller coasters. [13]

IMG Boulevard is the fourth zone featuring a haunted hotel and a variety of shops and restaurants. [11]

IMG Kids Zone

IMG Worlds fifth section is the IMG Kids Zone. This Epic Zone is 17,172 square feet in size and is designated for children, [14] with activities such as climbing walls, a football pitch, and slides. [15]

Novo Cinema

On 10 May 2015, Novo Cinema signed an agreement with IMG World of Adventure for opening 12 multiplex screen cinemas in IMG World of Adventure. [3] The cinema includes retail and dining options. IMG Novo opened its gate to public in February 2019. [16] . Around May 2023, the cinema experienced a brief pause of operations for a couple of months, with any mention of the cinema being removed by NOVO's websites and applications — allegedly for maintenance reasons. However, it has since closed early December, 2023.

Bawadi is a sector in the Dubailand development of the Emirate of Dubai, on the coast of the Arab's Gulf. The development is focused on amusement parks, hotel, commercial and residential buildings along a 15 city block, 10 kilometres (6 mi), transit zone. The project was first announced by the government of Dubai on 1 May 2006. The developer is Tatweer, a subsidiary of Dubai Holding. Arif Mubarak was the initial CEO of the Bawadi development.

The government of Dubai took a decision to diversify from a trade-based, oil-reliant economy to one that is service and tourism-oriented. This has made real estate and other developments more valuable, thus resulting in a property boom from 2004 to 2006. Construction on a large scale has turned Dubai into one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. There are a number of large-scale projects which are currently under construction or are to be constructed in the future. Due to the heavy construction which is taking place in Dubai, 30,000 construction cranes, which are 25% of cranes worldwide, are operating in Dubai. Due to the burst of construction, Dubai has acquired various building-related records, which include: the world's tallest tower, the world's largest shopping mall, the world's largest fountain and the world's tallest hotel. Also under construction is Dubailand, which will be almost twice the size of the Walt Disney World Resort.

City of Arabia is a US$20 billion retail, residential, commercial and entertainment destination lying at the gateway to Dubailand, United Arab Emirates. Some parts of this project are being built.

It would have been the first official F1 theme park and was to be built by Union Properties close to the Dubai Autodrome as part of the MotorCity section of Dubailand. Union Properties obtained the exclusive rights to build such parks, budgeting $360 million for the Dubai site and originally having plans for sites also in Europe and the Far East. The amount that Union Properties borrowed for the whole project was around $1.6 billion.
