The IMOCA 60 Class yacht Paprec-Virbac 2 was designed by Farr Yacht Design and launched in 2007 after being assembled by Southern Ocean Marine [1] based in New Zealand the boat was then shipped to France before being launched. [2] [3] The boat is a sistership to Gitana 80 also built by the same builder from the same moulds. [4] [5]

Alex Pella is a Spanish yachtsman. In 2014 he became the first and only Spanish to win a transoceanic single-handed race, the Route du Rhum. Alex Pella made history once again, on the 26th of January 2017, when he broke, with the rest of the team, the absolute round-the-world speed sailing record, known as the Jules Verne Trophy., aboard the sophisticated maxi-multihull IDEC 3. They circumnavigated the planet in 40 days, 23 hours, 30 minutes and 30 seconds.

The 2020–2021 Vendée Globe was a non-stop round the world yacht race for IMOCA 60 class yachts crewed by only one person. It was the ninth edition of the race, which started and finished in Les Sables-d'Olonne, France. The race began on 8 November 2020, with the first finishers completing the course on 27 January 2021 with the 25th and final yacht to complete the race arrived on 5 March 2021.

Manuel Cousin is a French professional sailor born on 10 July 1967 in Rouen who is competing in the 2020–2021 Vendée Globe sailing IMOCA 60 named Groupe Sétinhe completed the race in 103 days 18hours 15minutes. He started his professional sailing career late having been worked for Toyota forklifts as an account manager of which Groupe Sétin were one of the suppliers. He has a Diploma in Robotics Industrial Maintenance.

The IMOCA 60 Class yacht Virbac also referred to as Virbac-Paprec, after the names of the companies Virbac and Paprec, was designed by Farr Yacht Design and launched in 2003 after being built by Cookson Boats in there New Zealand yard. The boat was lost during the 2008-2009 Vendee Globe when the boat stopped at Kerguelen Islands but washed ashore by a gust of wind. It was eventually recovered and put on the "Marion Dufresne" and brought back to Reunion Island before being written of and destroyed.

The Route du Rhum is a single person transatlantic race the 2022 race was the 12th edition and had six classes with 138 boats taking part. The events status as a qualification for event for the Vendee Globe lead to the largest most competitive fleet of IMOCA 60 class yachts gathered todate. In his first attempt at the race Charles Caudrelier took line honours in a new race record time on the Maxi Multihull Edmond de Rothschild in six days, 19 hours and 47 minutes.

Paprec Arkéa (6), is an IMOCA 60 monohull sailing yacht, designed by Antoine Koch and Finot-Conq and constructed by Multiplast in France, launched on 22 February 2023. It is designed for the Vendée Globe 2024, a solo tour of the world. Its skipper is the French Yoann Richomme.
