Innovation management is a combination of the management of innovation processes, and change management. It refers to product, business process, and organizational innovation. Innovation management is the subject of ISO 50500 series standards developed by ISO TC 279.

The objective was to present tools and guidelines for practical application to product innovation processes, which was a new field of enquiry at the time. During this period an international group formally founded ISPIM and held the first international conference on product innovation management. [2] In the years since then, ISPIM has organised scientific and managerial publications, conferences and symposia.

In marketing, a product is an object or system made available for consumer use; it is anything that can be offered to a market to satisfy the desire or need of a customer. In retailing, products are often referred to as merchandise, and in manufacturing, products are bought as raw materials and then sold as finished goods. A service is also regarded to as a type of product.

Academic conference conference for researchers to present and discuss their work

An academic conference or scientific conference is a event for researchers to present and discuss their work. Together with academic or scientific journals, conferences provide an important channel for exchange of information between researchers.

Product innovation is the creation and subsequent introduction of a good or service that is either new, or an improved version of previous goods or services. This is broader than the normally accepted definition of innovation that includes the invention of new products which, in this context, are still considered innovative.

ISPIM has over 700 members, holds scientific gatherings and produces scientific publications in innovation management research. [3]
