IT News Africa is a Johannesburg-based technology news website. It focuses on news surrounding information and telecommunications (ICT), broadband, IT security, software, gadgets and gaming, and mobile operators from across Africa. IT News Africa also produces the bi-monthly Innovation Dinner, a gathering of senior-level executives from the ICT industry across Africa hosted with the partnership of IBM; [1] and is the publisher of the African Innovator Magazine.

Interviews

Being a news and information website, IT News Africa has conducted interviews with several high-profile executives in the African ICT industry, such as Samsung's Managing Director For South Africa, [2] Nigeria's Communications Commission's Executive Commissioner, [3] MTN's CEO Sifiso Dabengwa, [4] and SAP's President Of Europe, Middle East And Africa. [5]

Innovation Dinner

IT News Africa is responsible for producing the bi-monthly Innovation Dinner series, which brings together senior-level executives from various ICT companies from across Africa to network and discuss the event's pre-determined topic. The event was first hosted in South Africa, but has since expanded into Nigeria and Kenya. On average, the dinner is attended by 90 invited-only guests which has included in the past executives from Hewlett-Packard, MTN, Ericsson, Motorola, Dimension Data and Huawei.[ citation needed ]

African Innovator Magazine

IT News Africa is the sole publisher of the African Innovator Magazine, with its inaugural issue to be launched in 2012. The magazine will have a strong focus on innovation on the African continent, and spans a number of industries including mHealth, ICT, telecommunications and gadgets, as well as having in-depth articles and profiles on leading figures in the various industries.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">MTN $5.2 billion fine</span> Fine assessed by the Nigerian government to MTN in 2015

MTN Group, a major multi-national telecom company based in Johannesburg, South Africa, was handed down a $5.2 billion fine by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). The commission exercised section 20(1) of the Telephone Subscribers regulation (TSR) law on MTN, for not meeting the deadline set up by the Mobile network operators (MNOs) for disconnecting the Subscribers Identification Modules (SIM) with improper registration. The compliance audit carried out by the NCC on MTN network revealed unregistered 5.2 million customers lines un-deactivated. This led to the NCC fining MTN with the sum of $1000 for each unregistered SIM, which amounted to $5.2bn.

The India Mobile Congress (IMC) is a digital technologies' forum in Asia consisting of a three-day international conference and a technology exhibition. The event is envisioned to be the "leading platform for India's start-up and technology ecosystem." Within the telecommunications and technology industry, IMC is claimed to be the "largest digital technology forum in Asia." The event is organized jointly by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Government of India. The forum aims to be a platform for industry, businesses, regulators and policymakers to discuss and deliberate on critical issues affecting the growth of the telecom and technology sector. He was involved in various ICT-related companies that contributed to the development of the Founder Institute. He is known as the founder of Pacer Venture and has links with Climate Action Africa. He is the MD/CEO of Anambra State ICT Agency.

Susan M’kandawire Mulikita is a Zambian Law practitioner and business woman. She is known to be the first female to be appointed Chief Executive Officer of Liquid Telecom Group in Zambia.

Titans of Tech Awards established in 2004 is a Nigerian award organized by Tech TV Global Network.. The award is designed to showcase Nigeria's ICT industry, celebrating the exceptional achievements of pioneers, innovators, big thinkers and organisations who are at the forefront of pushing technology adoption and usage in Nigeria.
