I were a Norwegian black metal supergroup formed in 2003. The band featured Immortal frontman Abbath, Enslaved guitarist Ice Dale, Gorgoroth bassist TC King and former Immortal drummer Armagedda. I released their debut studio album, Between Two Worlds , in 2006 and performed their sole show at the Hole in the Sky festival in Bergen that same year. Although work had begun on songs for a follow-up album, the band ceased to exist following the release of their debut album due to the members' commitment to their other bands.

History

Following Immortal's split and hiatus in 2003, frontman Abbath began working on new material and enlisted Enslaved guitarist Ice Dale to assist with pre-production. [1] [2] The duo started rehearsing with original Immortal drummer Armagedda and were later joined by Gorgoroth bassist TC King. [2] The band's first and only live show took place at the Hole in the Sky festival in Bergen on 26 August 2006. [3] I's debut album, Between Two Worlds , was released on 3 November 2006 in Europe and 14 November 2006 in the United States through Nuclear Blast Records. [4] [5] The band's sound was described as "a fusing of the mammoth black metal anthems of the mighty Immortal and a pronounced rock 'n' groove component that borrows from the likes of Motörhead." [6] In December 2006, Abbath stated that he had started working on new songs for the next album, [7] although no further comment has been made on the project since. During that same year, Immortal reformed for a series of shows and later began work on a new album. [8] In 2015, Abbath left Immortal and formed an eponymous band along with former I bassist TC King. [9] [10] Abbath has regularly covered the I track "Warriors" live since 2015. [11] [12]

Gorgoroth are a Satanic band and have drawn controversy due to some of their concerts, which have featured impaled sheep heads and mock crucifixions. The band is named after the dead plateau of darkness in the land of Mordor from J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings.

Olve Eikemo, better known by his stage name Abbath Doom Occulta or simply Abbath, is a Norwegian musician best known as a founding member of the black metal band Immortal. Before founding Immortal, Abbath performed with Old Funeral alongside future Immortal member Demonaz. Following his departure from Immortal in 2015, he announced that he would be forming a new band under the Abbath name. Although primarily a guitarist, Abbath is also a proficient bassist and drummer, having started his career as a bassist and recorded all drums for Immortal albums Pure Holocaust and Battles in the North.

Between Two Worlds is the only album by Norwegian black metal supergroup I. The album was recorded at the Lydriket Studio and later mixed by Peter Tägtgren at the Abyss studio. The album showcases Abbath's straightforward metal style rather than his black metal style. The album displays a clear influence from classic metal bands, which although present in Abbath's primary band Immortal, is here the sole focus of the music. A limited edition digipack was released, which includes three bonus tracks. A limited edition metal box was also released, also featuring the three bonus tracks, and was limited to 1000 copies.

Harald Nævdal, known by his stage name Demonaz Doom Occulta, or simply Demonaz, is a Norwegian musician best known as the founding guitarist and chief lyricist for the black metal band Immortal. He is currently the only official member of Immortal, and has previously been a member of Old Funeral and Amputation.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Gorgoroth name dispute</span>

The Gorgoroth name dispute refers to a legal dispute between musicians from Norwegian black metal band Gorgoroth over who had ownership of the band's name, which was derived from J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium. The parties to the dispute were band founder Infernus and members Gaahl and King ov Hell. It began in October 2007, when it was announced that Gaahl and King had decided to part ways with Infernus, although the former two claimed to have "fired" the latter. The dispute was concluded in March 2009 when a court verdict recognising Infernus as the legitimate user of the name was announced, and the outcome of the dispute also established a precedent in Norway for subsequent similar disputes.

All Shall Fall is the eighth studio album by Norwegian black metal band Immortal. The album was released in Europe on 25 September 2009 and in the US on 6 October 2009. It is the only album to feature bassist Apollyon and the last to feature vocalist/guitarist Abbath Doom Occulta.

Abbath is the debut album by Norwegian black metal band Abbath. It was released on January 22, 2016, through Season of Mist. It is the only album to feature drummer Creature before his departure in December 2015 and the only one to feature King Ov Hell before his departure in June 2018. The album is composed mostly of content that Abbath had originally prepared for the next Immortal album, which was ultimately never used for it following his departure from the band in 2015.
