Peter O. Phillips, better known by his stage name Pete Rock, is an American record producer, DJ and rapper. He is widely recognized as one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time, and is often mentioned alongside DJ Premier, RZA and J Dilla as one of the mainstays of 1990s East Coast hip hop production. He rose to prominence in the early 1990s as one half of the critically acclaimed group Pete Rock & CL Smooth. Early on in his career, he was also famed for his remix work.
"On Bended Knee" is a 1994 number-one hit single by Boyz II Men for the Motown label. It is the second single from their second album, II. Written and produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the song reached number one on the Hot 100 Airplay and number two on the Hot Singles Sales on December 3, 1994. "On Bended Knee" stayed at number one for a total of six weeks.
"Why Don't We Fall in Love" is a song written and produced by Rich Harrison for American R&B singer Amerie's debut album, All I Have (2002). Released as the album's lead single in the United Kingdom in October 2001 and in the United States in July 2002. After being sent to US Urban/Urban AC, Top 40 and Rhythmic radio in April 2002, the song reached number twenty-three on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a top ten hit on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. It performed moderately elsewhere, peaking at number forty in the United Kingdom and number seventy-three in Australia. The song is also used for the promo of the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. It is also one of the songs used in the American version of Donkey Konga 2. Part of the lyrics, along with the background music, was sampled in the song Rule the World by 2 Chainz and Ariana Grande.
"Come Close" is a single by rapper Common featuring guest vocals by Mary J. Blige. The song is produced by Chad Hugo and Pharrell's production team, The Neptunes. Peaking at #65 on the Billboard Hot 100, "Come Close" is the only song from Common's 2002 album Electric Circus to make an appearance on the national music chart. It was released in conjunction with a promo video directed by Sanaa Hamri and Questlove of The Roots. The song's lyrics are a loving marriage proposition to Common's then girlfriend Erykah Badu. Jack LV Isles of Allmusic describes it as a "slow-paced dialogue [...] that borders on typical," but will inevitably be a commercial success. Mark Anthony Neal of Pop Matters comments on its mainstream sound saying that it's not a "sell-out" track, just a "fly love song" in which The Neptunes "brought their A-game."
The Main Ingredient is the second album by Pete Rock & CL Smooth, released on October 8, 1994. It would become their last album together.
"Halftime" is the 1992 debut single by American rapper Nas, released under his original moniker of Nasty Nas. It was originally recorded for the Zebrahead soundtrack album, released October 13, 1992, on Ruffhouse Records. "Halftime" was produced by Large Professor and features samples of drums and vocals from "Schoolboy Crush" by Average White Band, horns from "Soul Traveling" by Gary Byrd, and the bassline from "Dead End" from the Japanese cast recording of the musical Hair". The song was later included on Nas' influential 1994 debut album, Illmatic.
"A Song for Mama" is the title of a number-one R&B single by the American R&B group Boyz II Men. The tune, which was written and produced by Babyface, served as the theme song to the 1997 motion picture Soul Food, and spent two weeks at number one on the US R&B chart. To date, it is their last top 10 pop hit, peaking at number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also appears on the group's album Evolution.
Ross is the ninth studio album/compilation released by American singer Diana Ross in 1978 on the Motown label. The album was a mixture of older tunes Ross recorded and newer recordings, side A consisting of four tracks recorded in 1978 and Side B of material recorded between the years 1971 and 1975, but remixed and/or extended by Motown in-house producer Russ Terrana specifically for the Ross album. Ross peaked at number 49 on the US Pop Albums chart, and number 32 on Black Albums. The album failed to chart in the UK. Its final US sales figures stood at around 150,000 copies. The cover illustration was by Rickey Ricardo Gaskins. A different album also titled Ross was released on the RCA label in 1983.
"I'll Be There for You/You're All I Need to Get By" is a duet song by the American recording artists, rapper Method Man and singer Mary J. Blige. The song is a remix of Method Man's "All I Need", with an interpolation of Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell's hit, "You're All I Need to Get By", with Mary J. Blige singing the choruses, and backing vocals. Another version of the song was released, titled "Puff Daddy Mix," which was produced by Sean Combs. The Puff Daddy version of the song contains a new instrumental which includes a repeated sample from The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Me & My Bitch". Another remix version, titled "Razor Sharp Mix" was produced by RZA. The song sold over 800,000 copies and was certified platinum by the RIAA.
"I Got 5 on It" is a song by American hip hop duo Luniz. It was released in May 1995 as the lead single from their debut album, Operation Stackola. It features R&B singer Michael Marshall. The song reached number 2 in Germany, number 3 in the United Kingdom and number 8 in the United States. The song is about the consumption of cannabis. The single was certified Platinum by the RIAA on October 31, 1995 and sold one million copies domestically.

It was remixed and re-released at the beginning of 1996. The song features samples from the Roy Ayers song "Searching".

Released a week before the physical release of A Time to Love, the set comprises almost all of Wonder's officially released material, including single mixes, extended versions, remixes, and Workout Stevie Workout, a 1963 album which was shelved and replaced by With a Song in My Heart.
