Iassen Ghiuselev (born 1964) is a Bulgarian illustrator of many classic stories including Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland and The King of the Golden River.

Ghiuselev was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1964. His father is the Bulgarian opera singer Nicola Ghiuselev. Iassen Ghiuselev attended the School of Art in Sofia and then studied at the National Academy of Arts. He graduated in 1990 and started work as a freelance illustrator.

Ghuiselev creates cover pictures, graphics and other illustrations for some of the best-known publishers and magazines in Sofia. He also works with the magazines Vanity Fair and Vogue in Italy. [1]

Awards

Die Zeit and Radio Bremen awarded him the LUCHS 93 prize for his illustrations in The Queen Bee, published by Esslinger. [1] The American Institute of Graphic Arts designated Pinocchio as one of the Fifty Best Books of 2001 in its annual juried contest. [2] Pinocchio also won the 2002 Independent Publisher award for juvenile fiction, [3] and was the recipient of the Alcuin Society Book Design honorable mention in 2001. [4] Alice's Adventures in Wonderland took 3rd Prize at the 22nd Annual Awards for Excellence in Book Design in Canada (2003) from The Alcuin Society. [5]

Visconti-Sforza tarot deck

The Visconti-Sforza tarot is used collectively to refer to incomplete sets of approximately 15 decks from the middle of the 15th century, now located in various museums, libraries, and private collections around the world. No complete deck has survived; rather, some collections boast a few face cards, while some consist of a single card. They are the oldest surviving tarot cards and date back to a period when tarot was still called Trionfi cards, and used for everyday playing. They were commissioned by Filippo Maria Visconti, Duke of Milan, and by his successor and son-in-law Francesco Sforza. They had a significant impact on the visual composition, card numbering and interpretation of modern decks.

Suzy Lee is a Korean picture book artist and illustrator. She is critically acclaimed as an artist who explores the pleasures and tensions that lie between reality and fantasy. She is also known for her remarkable achievements in the field of wordless picture books, or silent books. She gained global attention for her three works – Mirror (2003), Wave (2008), and Shadow (2010), known collectively as "The Border Trilogy" – using the center binding of the pages of a book as a means to create a narrative crossing the boundaries between reality and fantasy. Illustrators of <i>Alices Adventures in Wonderland</i>

Illustrators of the Alice books, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass (1871), number more than 100. The focus here is on English-language editions. Many other artists have created illustrations for non-English language editions. The illustrator for the original editions was John Tenniel, whose illustrations for Alice and Looking Glass are perhaps the best known illustrations ever published. This article is an ongoing attempt to list all major illustrators of the Alice books from 1899 to the present day.
