Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello (born 23 April 1964) is a Nigerian academic. She is a professor of physiology [1] and the 9th Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University. [2]
Olatunji-Bello was born in Ologbowo community Idumota,Lagos Island in defunct Western Region of Nigeria on 23 April,1964. She attended Anglican Girl Grammar School in Surulere between 1970 and 1974 and Methodist Girls' High School,Yaba for Junior and Senior secondary education between 1974 and 1979. For tertiary education,she attended Lagos State College of Science and Technology,University of Ibadan where she obtained a bachelor's degree in physiology in 1985. She obtained a master's degree in physiology from the University of Lagos in 1987. [3] She also attended University of Texas at San Antonio,Health Science Centre,San Antonio between 1994 and 1998. [4]
She served as an assistant lecturer at the College of Medicine,University of Lagos and rose through the ranks,eventually becoming a professor of physiology at Lagos State University College of Medicine in 2007. She served as the deputy Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University(LASU) in 2008. [4] She also served as the acting Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University known as LASU before Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello was appointed as the 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU). [3] In an interview with The Nation ,she mentioned that her becoming the vice chancellor was because it was God's appointed time for her. [2]
Mrs Olatunji-Bello married commissioner Bello Olutunji which is a commissioner for environment and water resources in Lagos State,Nigeria. Mrs Bello-Olutunji had three children. [4] [5] [6]
Olatunji-Bello is a recipient of The Feminine Nigerian Achievement Award in the category of The Most Outstanding in Tertiary Education. [7]
Olatunji-Bello is also on the list of "The Nigerian Woman Annual:100 Leading Woman" for the year 2022. [8]
The University of Lagos,popularly known as UNILAG,is a public research university located in Lagos,Nigeria and was founded in 1962. UNILAG is one of the first generation universities in Nigeria and is ranked among the top universities in the world in major education publications. The university has attracted international funding,including for the establishment of a World Bank Group Africa Centre for Excellence on Science,Technology,Engineering,and Mathematics.
Grace Alele-WilliamsOON,FMAN,FNAE was a Nigerian professor of mathematics education,who made history as the first Nigerian woman to receive a doctorate,and the first Nigerian female vice-chancellor at the University of Benin.
Adamawa State Polytechnic is a tertiary educational institution in Yola,Adamawa State,Nigeria. It was established in 1991 through a merger of the College of Preliminary Studies Yola and the Staff Development Institute,Numan. Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun is a Nigerian lawyer,academic,author,investor,professor of environmental law and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He served as the 8th substantive vice-chancellor of Lagos State University between 11 January 2016 to 10 January 2021. His administration as LASU's vice chancellor witnessed tremendous gains in research,innovations and infrastructural development –which helped to propel the university from obscurity to the second best university in Nigeria according to the 2021 Times Higher Education ranking. He was appointed by the governor of Lagos State,Akinwunmi Ambode to succeed professor John Obafunwa,a Nigerian pathologist whose tenure ended on 31 October 2015. His appointment was lauded by the Lagos State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities. The association through the chapter chairman pledge their full support for good administration.

Folasade Tolulope Ogunsola OON(born 1958) is a Nigerian professor of medical microbiology,and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos. She specializes in disease control,particularly HIV/AIDS. Ogunsola was provost of College of Medicine,University of Lagos and is reputed as being the first woman to occupy the position. She was also the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the institution between 2017 and 2021.
