Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort (formerly Le Meridien Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort and Ibom ICON Hotel & Golf Resort) is a luxury five star hotel and golf resort in Uyo, Akwa Ibom established in 2007 by the Government of Akwa Ibom State under the governorship of Victor Attah.

History and location

Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort was built in 2007 by the Akwa Ibom State government during the administration of Governor Victor Attah. [1] [2] It is located at Nwaniba, a coastal community in Uyo, which palm vegetations and offers a view of the mountains in Cameroon. [3] [4] [5]

Icon Hotel Group Africa took over management of the hotel in 2020. [4]

Features

The hotel features a 163 rooms, 26 suites, 7 villas and an 18-hole par 72, 6361 meter golf course. Other features include a health centre with fitness room, sauna, hammam and Jacuzzi, an outdoor swimming pool, with a tennis and squash courts. It also houses a heliport with two helipads. [6] [7]

The University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) is a tertiary hospital in Abak road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, an administrative division of Nigeria. The hospital started as the Akwa Ibom State Specialist Hospital, formed by the Akwa Ibom State Government in the year 1994 under the administration of Yakubu Bako. It was later renamed Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital. In 1997, the Federal Government of Nigeria renamed it Federal Medical Centre, Uyo in 1999. But was upgraded to University of Uyo Teaching Hospital in 2008. It is affiliated with University of Uyo College of Medicine all in Akwa Ibom state. There is a library established as an integral part of the teaching hospital for use by medical students and practitioners.
