Ifrah Wali, (29 November 1995) is a Pakistani alpine skier. She is the first winner of the Giant Slalom event at any South Asian Winter Games when she won at the inaugural games held in India. [1]
Wali belongs to Ghahkoch Valley in District Ghizar, Gilgit-Baltistan. Ifrah Wali, the progeny of the Gushpur family, the former royal family of the Punial Valley district Ghizer, excelled in the art of skiing mainly because she spent most of her childhood growing up in Ratto – a snow-capped area of Astore Valley where her father, Col. Amjad Wali, was posted in the army for nearly 11 years.

In 2011, Wali won the Giant Slalom event at the South Asian Games in India by beating her sister, Amina and an Indian competitor to the podium.
Ifrah Wali was selected by the Pakistan Ski Federation (SFP) to train in Hintertux, Austria in FIS skiing camp for one month in Nov 2014. While training Ms. Wali met with an accident and broke the tibia and fibula of her right leg. SFP spoke person said regarding her injury “Ifrah met the tragedy while doing training as she slipped from a slope of Hintertux glacier [in Austria], from where she was airlifted to a hospital. She is being treated at the hospital where the doctors have advised her six-week bed rest.”
Ms. Wali bagged one gold and two bronze in Karakoram International Ski Cup 2017, Pakistan's first international skiing championship. A total of 9 countries participated in this event with participants flying in from Turkey, Ukraine, Morocco, Afghanistan, India, Tajikistan, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, and Iran.
In January 2017, Wali was named to Pakistan's 2017 Asian Winter Games team. [2] [3] Ifrah Wali, along with a contingent of 20 members represented Pakistan in the Asian Winter Games, Sapporo 2017. Neha Ahuja is an Indian alpine skier who represented India in the 2006 Winter Olympics held in Torino, Italy. Ahuja was also the flag bearer in the opening and closing ceremonies. She has achieved several milestones in skiing for India. She is the first Indian woman to have qualified for the Winter Olympics. She is also the first woman to qualify for both the slalom and giant slalom events in the Olympics. Ahuja was one of four Indians competing at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. She placed 51st in the slalom (SL) and 42nd in the giant slalom (GS) events. Her older sister Shefali Ahuja represented India in the 3rd Winter Asian games held in Harbin, China, and her younger sister Swati Ahuja participated in the fourth season of MTV Roadies.
The Naltar Valley is a valley situated about 34 kilometres from the city of Gilgit in Gilgit−Baltistan, Pakistan. It is a forested area distinguished by its three lakes, Strangi Lake, Blue Lake, and Bodlok Lake, as well as by the mountainous landscape.
Pakistan competed in the first ever South Asian Winter Games held in Dehradun and Auli, India, from 10 January to 16 January 2011. It sent a contingent of 27 officials and athletes. It participated in slalom, giant slalom, cross-country skiing, and biathlon events.
Amina Wali is a Pakistani alpine skier and a recipient of Pride of Performance. She remained national champion for 15 years. In acknowledgement of her extra ordinary achievements in sports, she was conferred Presidential Award of Pride of Performance in 2023. She is nominated as goodwill ambassador to Plan International organization for supporting its campaign "because I am a girl".
Mir Nawaz is a Pakistani alpine skier. His bronze medal in Giant slalom skiing at the 2011 South Asian Winter Games was Pakistan's first ever medal at any South Asian Winter Games.

The country competed for the second consecutive Winter Games, after making its debut four years earlier in Vancouver. He participated in the slalom and giant slalom events and got a rank of 71 in the giant slalom. He also competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics. He participated in the giant slalom and secured a rank of 72.
