Ijeoma John is a Nigerian paralympian athlete. She won silver medal at the 40 kg category of the powerlifting event at 2004 Summer Paralympics. [1]
Nigeria sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China. The country was represented by 28 athletes competing in four sports: powerlifting, table tennis, wheelchair tennis and track and field. The Nigerian team included eight powerlifters.

On 9 September 2016, he set a new paralympics record in the men's – 54kg category after lifting 200kg at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He also competed in the men's – 54kg category at the 2015 African Games, where he also won gold. Ezuruike improved his previous Commonwealth performance by winning gold in the men's lightweight powerlifting at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Australia.
Nigeria competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 September to 18 September 2016. Nigeria's delegation of 23 sportspeople was mostly composed of powerlifters, with the country sending 14 lifters to Rio. Ahead of the Rio Games, the National Sports Commission promised Paralympic medals to erase the country's Olympic shame.

Latifat Tijani is a Nigerian powerlifter. She won gold in the women's – 45kg event at the 2015 African Games in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. In 2016, she competed in the women's – 45kg event at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, where she lifted 106kg to win silver.
Ndidi Nwosu was a Nigerian powerlifter who had an upset victory at the 2016 Summer Paralympics. She lifted 140 kilograms. Ndidi became a professional powerlifter in 2008. She won gold in the Rio Paralympic Games in 2016. She also won gold in the 2018 Commonwealth Games which took place in Australia. she sustained an injury in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The injury affected her spine and led to her having different surgeries in Owerri, Imo State Nigeria. After these surgeries, she was never the same again and could not participate in subsequent competitions.

Monday Emoghavwe is a Nigerian powerlifter. He represented Nigeria at the 1992 Summer Paralympics, at the 1996 Summer Paralympics and at the 2000 Summer Paralympics. He won the gold medal three times: he won the gold medal in the Men's 48 kg event at the 1992 Summer Paralympics, Men's 60 kg event at the 1996 Summer Paralympics and he also won the gold medal in the Men's 67.5 kg event at the 2000 Summer Paralympics. He also won a gold medal during the 1995 All-Africa Games held in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Flora Ugwunwa is a Nigerian Paralympic athlete competing in F54-classification events. She represented Nigeria at the 2016 Summer Paralympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and she won the gold medal in the women's javelin throw F54 event. She also set a new world record of 20.25m at this event.
