Ikpide

Ikpide is an Isoko town in Isoko South local government area, Delta State, Nigeria. [1] It is located on the eastern bank of the lower River Niger between the source of the River Nun and Ubioakpere. The traditional north/south boundaries of Ikpide are the Ofavre-Uto Canal and Ubioakpere.

Isoko North is one of two Local Government Areas (LGA) in the Isoko region of Delta State, southern Nigeria – the other being Isoko South. The population of Isoko North was approximately 112,000 as of 2003. Its headquarters are in the town of Ozoro which has 14,000 seater capacity Olympic size stadium at the Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro. There are 13 Electoral Wards in the Local Government Area. Major towns in Isoko North are Ozoro, Owhelogbo, Otor Owhe, Otor-Igho, Oghara-Iyede and Emevor. The people are mostly Christian and traditional worshippers. Niger Delta

The Niger Delta is the delta of the Niger River sitting directly on the Gulf of Guinea on the Atlantic Ocean in Nigeria. It is typically considered to be located within nine coastal southern Nigerian states, which include: all six states from the South South geopolitical zone, one state (Ondo) from South West geopolitical zone and two states from South East geopolitical zone. Of all the states that the region covers, only Cross River is not an oil-producing state.

Isoko people

Isoko people are an ethnolinguistic group who inhabit the Isoko region of Delta State, and Bayelsa State Nigeria. They are people of southern Nigeria, near the northwestern Niger delta. Delta State and Bayelsa State are part of the 36 states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Isoko is an Edoid language spoken by the Isoko people in the Niger Delta of southern Nigeria, specifically in the regions of Delta and Bayelsa States. The Isoko and Urhobo languages are not dialects of the same language but separate languages; each existing independently, but erroneously speculated as dialects of a language. This has in so many ways suppressed the language below it's neighbour Urhobo language. Isoko has about 20 to 21 dialects, but the Aviara/Uzere dialect is the standard dialect of the language.

Onogbokor is an Isoko-speaking town in the Ndokwa East Local Government Area (LGA), Delta State, Nigeria. Until the creation of Delta State in 1991, it was formerly with the Ndoshimili LGA with headquarters located in Kwale, in the defunct Bendel state. It shares common boundaries with Iyede-Ame in the south, Igeh to the east, Umuolu and Itebiege to the north and Akara-etiti on the west. The town has three quarters: Ushie, Ogbe-ekpako and Ove. Inhabitants of the town dominantly speak the Isoko dialect with few Ụkwụànì speakers. They intermarry Ụkwụànìs, Ijaws and other tribes. As a clan, it has four communities: Ewo-okpe community, Okporo community, Ewo-eboy community and Obere community. There are migrants from neighbouring nearby communities and pockets of Ijaw fishermen and Hausa petty traders in the clan.

Asaba-Ase Town in Delta State, Nigeria

Asaba Ase is a settlement in the Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State in Nigeria. It derives its name from the Ase river and is one of the communities that constitutes the Ase Clan but enjoys more autonomy. It is situated a few kilometres away from the petroleum producing community of Uzere in Isoko South, and approximately six kilometres away from Abari, an Ijaw settlement in the Patani local government area of Delta State. Asaba-Ase is one of the settlement in Ndokwa East recurrently affected by floods The native languages are Isoko and Ndokwa, and inhabitants of the town are considered Isoko People due to their history and the proximity to Uzere.

Awah, or Avba, is a town in Delta State, Nigeria. Located on the shores of the Ase River in the Ndokwa East Local Government Area, it is one of the Isoko speaking communities found in the Old Aboh political division. Until the creation of Delta State in 1991, it was formerly with the Ndoshimili Local Government Area with headquarters located in Kwale, in the defunct Bendel state.

Delta South Senatorial District in Delta State, Nigeria, covers 8 local governments which comprise Bomadi, Burutu, Isoko North, Isoko South, Patani, Warri North, Warri South and Warri South West. The headquarters of Delta South is Isoko South Local Government. The current representative of Delta South Senatorial District is James Manager of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
