The Democratic Party is a centre to centre-right political party in Indonesia. It was founded on 9 September 2001. Its ideology is based on the Indonesian concept of Pancasila, and identifies as centrist.
Persatuan Sepakbola Makassar, or more popularly known through its abbreviation PSM, is an Indonesian professional football club based in Makassar, South Sulawesi. PSM was founded in 1915 as Makassar Voetbal Bond, making it the oldest club that competes in the Indonesian Liga 1. Locally it is best known by the nickname Juku Eja, which translates as The Red Fish. PSM plays their home matches in Andi Mattalatta Stadium. They are also considered as one of the most successful clubs in Indonesia, mostly due to their success in the pre-professional era of Indonesian football. In the 2001 season, they became the second Indonesia club side to reach the quarterfinals of an Asia-level tournament in the Asian Club Championship.
Legislative elections were held in Indonesia on 9 April 2009 for 132 seats of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) and 560 seats of the People's Representative Council (DPR). A total of 38 parties met the requirements to be allowed to participate in the national elections, with a further six contesting in Aceh only. The Democratic Party of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono won the largest share of the vote, followed by the Golkar Party and the Indonesian Democratic Party – Struggle.
The People's Conscience Party is a political party in Indonesia. It was established following a meeting in Jakarta on 13–14 December 2006 and first headed by former Indonesian National Armed Forces commander Wiranto. The party lost its seats in parliament after a poor performance in the 2019 general election.
Pallubasa is a traditional dish from Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Like Coto Makassar, it is made from offal of cattle or buffalo. The cooking process is similar to Coto Makassar; the offal is boiled for long time. After it is boiled, the offal is added to meat, then sliced and served in a bowl.

Anregurutta professor Habib Abdurrahman Shihab was an Indonesian academican, politician, and Qur'anic interpretation expert (mufassir) from Makassar, South Sulawesi. As a politician, Abdurrahman was a member of the Constitutional Assembly of Indonesia from the Masyumi Party fraction. Meanwhile, as an academican, he served as 2nd rector of the Indonesian Muslim University of Makassar in the period 1959–1965 and the 3rd rector of the Alauddin Islamic State University from 1973 to 1979.
Soni Sumarsono is an Indonesian civil servant who was the Director-General of Regional Autonomy in the Ministry of Home Affairs. As part of his position, he has become acting governors for the provinces of South Sulawesi, Jakarta and North Sulawesi.
On 22 January 2019, floods caused by heavy rainfall struck the Indonesian province of South Sulawesi. At least 68 people were killed and thousands were displaced. Gowa Regency was particularly hard-hit, experiencing the majority of the fatalities.
Muhammad Alhamid is an Indonesian professor, academician, lecturer, and civil servant. Muhammad was the chairman of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) for the period 2012–2017, after completing his duties as chairman of the Bawaslu, he was later appointed as a member of the Election Organization Ethics Council of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2017–2022 and was inaugurated on 12 June 2017 by Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
Baso Amiruddin Maula was an Indonesian politician who served as the mayor of Makassar between 1999 and 2004.
A series of mass protests led by students took place at major cities in Indonesia from 23 September 2019, to rally against new legislation that reduces the authority of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), as well as several bills including a new criminal code that penalises extramarital sex and defamation against the president. The protesters consisted of mostly students from over 300 universities, with no association with any particular political parties or groups. The protests were the most prominent student movement in Indonesia since the 1998 riots that brought down the Suharto regime.
