Ilham Hussain (born May 23,1955) is a Maldivian health advocate,public figure,and politician who served as the First Lady of the Maldives from 2012 until 2013 during the tenure of President Mohammed Waheed Hassan. She is the head of the Maldives Autism Association. [1]
Majeediyya School is the first Maldivian government school,located in Malé,Maldives. It only accepted boys until the introduction of Primary Education in 2010,which allowed girls to attend the school as well. The English medium is followed throughout all subjects,with the exception of Dhivehi and Islam.
Mohamed Nasheed GCSK,also known as Anni,is a Maldivian politician and activist who served as president of the Maldives from 2008 until his resignation in 2012. A founding member of the Maldivian Democratic Party,he subsequently served as the 19th speaker of the People's Majlis from May 2019 until his resignation in November 2023. He is the first democratically elected president of the Maldives and the only president to resign from office. He is currently a member of The Democrats.
Naushad Waheed is a cartoonist and painter from the Maldives. He was detained by the government for four months following the publication of one of his cartoons in the magazine Hukuru in 1999. In 2001,he was arrested for participating in debates critical of the government,tried for treason,and sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was released on February 22,2006. Naushad Waheed is also the brother of Dr. Mohammed Waheed Hassan,a leading political figure who served as the 5th president of Maldives from 7 February 2012 to 17 November 2013. He was appointed as Deputy High Commissioner of Maldives to the UK in 2008 after the new government settled into place.
The Maldives competed at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul,South Korea,from 17 September to 2 October 1988. This marked their first time participating in the Olympic Games. Seven athletes competed in athletic events;Ismail Asif Waheed,Ahmed Shageef,Abdul Haji Abdul Latheef,Hussein Haleem Ibrahim Manik,Abdul Razzak Aboobakur and Mohamed Hanim in track and field. None of the athletes advanced past the first round in their events,and no Maldivian has won a medal at the Olympics. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik is a Maldivian politician who served as president of the Maldives from 7 February 2012 to 17 November 2013,having succeeded to the office following the resignation of President Mohamed Nasheed,under whom he served as Vice President. He had previously worked as a news anchor,a teacher,a principle,a United Nations international civil servant with UNICEF,UNDP and UNESCO,and as member of the Maldivian Parliament.

The 2011–2013 Maldives political crisis began as a series of peaceful protests that broke out in the Maldives on 1 May 2011. They would continue,eventually escalating into the resignation of President Mohamed Nasheed in disputed circumstances in February 2012. Demonstrators were protesting what they considered the government's mismanagement of the economy and were calling for the ouster of President Nasheed.
