Ima Sabitri is a 2016 Manipuri documentary film directed by Bobo Khuraijam and produced by Gurumayum Ranita and Khuraijam Ibeton under the banner of Masek Mangal Film. [1] [2] It was the opening film in the non-feature section of the Indian Panorama at the 47th International Film Festival of India 2016. [3] [4]

Ima Sabitri was the opening film (non-feature) at the Festival of Cinemas of Manipur 2022, a 15-day long multi-lingual film festival organised by MSFDS in April 2022. [5] [6] [7]

Synopsis

An observational documentary film, shot over a period of three years, it explores inspirations behind a vibrant theatre group. Mother Guru of the group – Sabitri, whom everyone addressed as mother, who is a teacher, a partner, a daughter, a woman, weaves a range of events, on and off the stage.

Our journeys are filled with ambiguities. Stories of journey interwove with each other. Heisnam Sabitri, an artist extraordinary, embodies the stories enacted on stage and off stage. The film narrates the stories from an intimate distance.
