Hans-Michael Bock is a German film historian, filmmaker, translator and writer.
The Great Awakening (1941) is an American historical film directed by Reinhold Schünzel and starring Alan Curtis, Ilona Massey, and Billy Gilbert. The film was produced by Gloria Pictures Corporation, and released by United Artists. Miklós Rózsa was responsible for the musical direction, though he later expunged the title from his filmography, because he considered it a travesty of the great composer's life story.
Curt Courant was a German cinematographer who worked on over a hundred films during the silent and early sound eras. Courant worked in several European countries, collaborating with figures such as Alfred Hitchcock and Fritz Lang. As he was of Jewish ancestry, Courant was forced to leave Germany in 1933 and go into exile following the Nazi takeover of power. Courant worked at several of the leading British studios during the mid-1930s. He is the uncle of Willy Kurant who also became a cinematographer.
Three Cuckoo Clocks is a 1926 German silent drama film directed by Lothar Mendes and starring Lillian Hall-Davis, Nina Vanna and Nils Asther. It premiered at the Gloria-Palast in Berlin on 25 May 1926. It was based on a novel by Georg Mühlen-Schulte. Unlike many of Mendes' films from the period, which are now considered lost, it still survives. It was released in the United States by Paramount Pictures under the alternative title of Adventure Mad.
Thea Roland or The Adventure of Thea Roland is a 1932 German comedy film directed by Henry Koster and starring Lil Dagover, Hans Rehmann and Margarete Kupfer. The film marked the directorial debut of Koster, who was forced to emigrate from Germany by the Nazi party following his next film and later went on to be a leading Hollywood director. Billy Wilder may have also worked on the screenplay, although he remained uncredited.
