The Independent Presbyterian Church in Mexico was founded in 1984, due to tension between Mexican leaders and the Christian Reformed Church in North America missionaries. The majority decided to cooperate with the American missionaries, but 3 out of the 5 Presbyteries opted for independence. The Mexican government registered the Independent Presbyterian Church and also obtained the control of properties.
In 2004 it had 2,500 members and 35 congregations and 30 house fellowships and has Presbyteries and a General Assembly. The church affirms the Apostles Creed, Athanasian Creed, Nicene Creed, Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism and the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Westminster Larger Catechism. [1]

Since 1990 the church has experienced rapid growth. It has 3 presbyteries and 1 Synod. The church has 15,000 members and 60 congregations and several house fellowships. The church subscribes the Westminster Confession of Faith, Heidelberg Catechism, Second Helvetic Confession, Apostles Creed and the Barmen Declaration. It is a member of the World Communion of Reformed Churches.

David Trumbull and the United Presbyterian Church in the USA. On June 13, 1883 the first Presbytery was organised in Chile. It adopted the Constitution of the United Presbyterian Church in the USA. Till 1963 the church was dependent on the United Presbyterian Churches Synod of New York. With the creating of 3 more Presbyteries, the church become independent from the American Presbyterian church in January 1964.
