Indian Institute of Fire Engineering, Nagpur (IIFE) is the first Government of Maharashtra recognized institute in India for advanced courses in fire safety engineering and security management studies.
The Government of Maharashtra is the Government for the state of Maharashtra in Western India. It is an elected government with 288 MLAs elected to the legislative assembly for a five-year term. Maharashtra has a bicameral legislature i.e. it consists of two houses: Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad. As is the case in a parliamentary system, the government is formed by the party, alliance or group of assembly members who command the majority, in the lower house. The leader of the majority in lower house becomes the Chief Minister and selects the cabinet members, from either lower (or) upper house. If one becomes CM or minister without being an MLA or MLC, he/she must become either of one within next 6 months. From the formation of the state in 1960, the Congress party or Congress-led alliance have ruled the state for the major part. Non-Congress government was first formed in 1978, then in 1995 with Shivsena-BJP alliance, and most recently in 2014 with a BJP-led alliance.

IIFE has been imparting quality education in fire and safety sector since 1996. Since its inception IIFE has trained more than 10,000 students and the number keeps on adding up as time progresses. IIFE is located on five acres of land at Makardhokda, near Friends Colony on Nagpur Katol highway, Nagpur City Nagpur. It is close to city center and well inside city limits. The institute has good infrastructure to train its students and prepare them for any kind of situations. The institute has all kinds of modern fire fighting equipment that are used in the real world. IIFE in a span of 23 years has created a reputation of providing quality education to its students. IIFE has become one of the trusted names in the industry when it comes to delivering quality education as well as other services at the workplace.
Nagpur is the third largest city and the winter capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the 13th largest city by population in India.
