The 2002 Indian vice-presidential election was held on 12 August 2002 to elect the newly-vacated post of Vice-President of India. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat defeated Sushil Kumar Shinde to become 11th Vice President of India. [1] Incumbent VP Krishan Kant did not contest the election and died before the election occurred.

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Indian politician

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was the 11th Vice President of India. He served in that position from August 2002, when he was elected to a five-year term by the electoral college following the death of Krishan Kant, until he resigned on 21 July 2007, after losing the presidential election to Pratibha Patil. Shekhawat was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a leading member of the National Democratic Alliance at the time of election. He served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan three times, from 1977 to 1980, 1990 to 1992 and 1993 to 1998.

Pratibha Patil 12th President of India

Pratibha Devisingh Patil is an Indian politician who served as the 12th President of India from 2007 to 2012. A member of the Indian National Congress, Patil is the only woman so far to hold the office. She previously served as the Governor of Rajasthan from 2004 to 2007.

2007 Indian presidential election

The Election Commission of India held indirect 13th presidential elections of India on 19 July 2007. Pratibha Patil with 638,116 votes won over her nearest rival Bhairon Singh Shekhawat who got 331,306 votes. This result meant that Pratibha Patil became the first female President of India.

Om Prakash Mathur is a member of Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan state in India and is a senior politician from Bharatiya Janata Party. Initially he was groomed by Bhairon Singh Shekhawat but later he became a leader on his own in B.J.P. He was a Pracharak with the RSS and later General Secretary- In charge of the Gujarat B.J.P. His close lieutinents in the Rajasthan include Srikishan Songara, Shankar Singh Rajpurohit and Sunil Singhi in Gujarat. He remained close to the organisation and never fought any elections except Rajya Sabha election. He took undue advantage of his position for getting important Express train halted at Falna

Narpat Singh Rajvi is a senior Bharatiya Janata Party politician from the Indian state of Rajasthan. He was born to Rajvi Amar Singh, a judge, and Rani Jas Kanwar. He is married to Ratan Kanwar, the daughter of senior Indian politician and former Vice-President of India late Shree Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. Parliament Museum

Parliament museum is a museum in the Parliament of India Library Building in New Delhi, close to the Sansad Bhavan. It was inaugurated by then Speaker of Lok Sabha on 29 December 1989, in Parliament House Annexe, subsequently it shifted to its present in a Special Hall of the Sansadiya Gyanpeeth, Parliament Library Building, where it was inaugurated on 7 May 2002 by President of India, K. R. Narayanan. The interactive museum was inaugurated by President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on 15 August 2006.

2007 Indian vice-presidential election

The 2007 Indian vice-presidential election was held on 10 August 2007 to elect Vice-President of India to serve from 2007 until 2012. Mohammad Hamid Ansari from Indian National Congress was elected for the post. The incumbent, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat did not seek reelection and instead ran for President in 2007 election, where he lost to Pratibha Patil. He subsequently resigned from VP post days before Patil's inauguration.


Rajpal Singh Shekhawat 12 November 1962 born and birthplace is Pachar, Sikar. He is an Indian politician and current Member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from Jhotwara in Jaipur. He was first inducted as Minister by Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and had a number of portfolios. Presently in Vasundhara Raje government, He is the Minister for Industries, Public enterprises, DMIC & NRI affairs He is a Leader of Bharatiya Janata Party.
