Indios de Cartagena (Cartagena Indians) were a baseball team active in the Colombian Professional Baseball League. Founded in 1948, the team was one of the most successful in Colombian baseball.
Indios was the first professional baseball team in Colombia, founded in March 1948 by Juan González Cornett and sponsored by Cigarillos Piel Roja (lit.Redskin Cigarettes); it gained its name from Pielroja's mascot, a stereotypical North American Indian. Indios was crowned champion of the inaugural 1948 season. [1] During this era, Indios was the "criollo" team, made up of all-Colombian players, as opposed to other teams including its crosstown rival Torices that used foreign players. [2] The team won three more titles in the so-called first era of Colombian baseball, the last in 1955–56, before the league ceased operations in 1958.
When Colombian professional baseball started again in 1979, Indios returned and immediately won two championships back to back, in 1980 and 1981. During this period, it was headlined by "Los Ñatos" (The Snub-Nosed Ones), shortstops Orlando Ramírez and Carlos Velázquez. [3] Indios won their last title in the 1987–88 season, though that would be the last season of professional baseball until the mid-1990s.
After the professional league was reformed, several teams briefly assumed the Indios name, starting the 1996–97 season and going until 2001–02 season. Jolbert and Orlando Cabrera bought the Tigres de Cartagena team and briefly renamed them the Indios in 2007–08, but the franchise would return to the Tigres name the following year. Tigres changed their name to Indios again for the 2016–17 season, maintaining the same management and players, but again reversed the decision after one season.
Jolbert Alexis Cabrera Ramírez is a Colombian former baseball player. Previously, he played in Major League Baseball for the Cleveland Indians (1998–2002), Los Angeles Dodgers (2002–2003), Seattle Mariners (2004), and Cincinnati Reds (2008). Cabrera hits and throws right-handed. He is the older brother of former shortstop Orlando Cabrera. The two played together during the 1997 season while members of the Ottawa Lynx, the Montreal Expos Triple-A affiliate.

Puerto Rico is the incumbent Pan American and Central American/Caribbean champion, as well as the 2017 World Baseball Classic runner-up. The Cangrejeros de Santurce are a professional baseball team based in Santurce, the largest barrio of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The franchise joined the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente when it was the semi-professional Liga de Béisbol Semi-Profesional de Puerto Rico. Having played for over 80 years, the Cangrejeros have won sixteen national titles and five Caribbean Series. With over 2000 victories, the Cangrejeros have won the most games in the history of Puerto Rican professional baseball. The 1954–55 Cangrejeros, nicknamed Panic Squad, was the team's most notable roster, with a lineup that included hall of famers Roberto Clemente and Willie Mays. This version of the Cangrejeros won the National and Caribbean championships by sweeping their respective series.
The Tiburones de La Guaira are a baseball team in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP). Though they nominally represent La Guaira, they also play home games at the Estadio Universitario in nearby Caracas. Tiburones have won eight national championships since their founding in 1962, most recently in 2024.

They have participated in the league since the 1984–85 season, playing in the 12,000-capacity Estadio Édgar Rentería in Barranquilla. Caimanes are the most successful team in Colombian baseball, having won 13 league titles, most recently during the 2023–24 season. They also won the 2022 Caribbean Series, making Colombia the first new country to win the tournament since Mexico's Naranjeros de Hermosillo won their first title in 1976.
