The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) is the largest German bi-national Chamber abroad and the largest Chamber of Commerce in India. [1] It acts as primary contact for Indian and German companies who are willing to establish a business in the other country. It works in close cooperation with the Chambers of Industry and Commerce in Germany (IHKs) and the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK). [2] [3]

The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce was established and incorporated in the year 1956. [4]

Membership

The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce cooperates with the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) as well as with the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK). Members can be organizations and individuals of any nationality. The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce has over 4500 members. They enjoy benefits like attending events, networking, interacting with peers and industry leaders, staying updated on economic and policy changes relevant to your business, and many more. [5]

Representations

The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce has representations in India and Germany. In India, IGCC is present at 6 locations. Headquartered in Mumbai, IGCC’s branch offices are located in Delhi, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore. The German subsidiary is located in Düsseldorf. [17]

Training

The German-Dual system [18] is one of the cornerstones of the successful ‘Made in Germany’ brand, now widely adopted by many European and Asian economies for quality and excellence. To enable this service to member companies in India and provide them with a common management training platform, Indo-German Training Centre (IGTC) [19] and the German Dual Vocational Education and Training system [20] (VET, DualPro, ProRecognition) have been setup.

Events

IGCC uses its wealth of business and corporate experiences to help member companies organize their Business meetings, Seminars, theme related Workshops, Office Opening, Product Launches, Conferences, Business Dinner Receptions, etc.

Such events can be organized by IGCC offices at Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. [21]

Trade fairs [22] are a valuable platform to promote your products and services globally and launch them into new markets.  IGCC helps you to identify and participate in leading trade exhibitions in Germany [23] and India. [24]

One can explore IGCC's online job market for job opportunities, internships and legal clerkships in Indian and German companies, as well as at the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce. [26]

Internships

The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce or the Deutsch-Indische Handelskammer offers German students enrolled in a University, a four-to-six-month internship in their offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore or Pune. [27]

As an intern you get involved in different aspects of Indo-German business and also gain valuable work experience in an intercultural and global set-up in India.

Austrian Economic Chamber

The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber functions as the federal parent organization for the nine State Chambers and 110 trade associations for different industries within Austria's system of economy. Most State Chambers and associations have local offices to provide services in close proximity to members.

A dual education system combines apprenticeships in a company and vocational education at a vocational school in one course. This system is practiced in several countries, notably Germany, Austria, Switzerland and in the German-speaking Community of Belgium, but also for some years now in South Korea.

Institute of Management Development and Research, Pune

The Institute of Management Development and Research (IMDR) in Pune, India, is the oldest management institution in Pune, and comes under the Deccan Education Society. Earlier IMDR was offering three full-time programmes: Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), Post Graduate Diploma in International Trade (PGDIT) and Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources (PGDHR), along with its other part-time programmes. In 2011 IMDR got AICTE approval, and currently IMDR is offering PGDM course approved by AICTE and DTE.

Pakistan German Business Forum (PGBF) was formed on 3 December 1997 with the active support and co-operation of German Ambassador to Pakistan who is its Patron-in-Chief as well as the German Consul-General in Karachi, Dr. Axel Weishaupt actively supported PGBF in 1997.

Eurochambres

Eurochambres is the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The association is one of the largest business representative organisations in Brussels, representing over 20 million businesses in Europe through 45 members and a European network of 1,700 regional and local chambers. More than 93% of these businesses are small and medium sized enterprises. Chambers’ member businesses employ over 120 million.

European College of Business and Management

The European College of Business and Management (ECBM) was established in 1988 and is the training arm of the German-British Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) in London. It is located in the heart of London.

Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce is a German 'chamber,' similar to an English guild but is required under German law and provides political influence of a trade union. This organization was formerly known as the Deutscher Industrie- und Handelstag or DIHT.

A Fachwirt is a professional certification in Germany allocated to level 6 of the European Qualifications Framework, where it is translated as business management specialist.

L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is a private institution for technical education dedicated to the teaching of design. Founded in 1988, it has been managed by the Nantes-Saint Nazaire Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 1991. The school is recognized by the State and is one of the two schools in its field to award a design degree which is certified by the French Ministry of Higher Education.. This degree is also registered in the Registre National des Certifications Professionnelles as a Level I Master's degree.

German-Thai Chamber of Commerce

AHK Thailand or the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce (GTCC) is a non-profit entity which promotes bilateral economic relations between Germany and Thailand. It is a member of the German Chambers of Commerce Worldwide Network (AHKs), with 140 locations in 92 countries around the world.

The Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI) is an Indian association that promotes business enterprises for Dalits. It was founded in 2005 by Milind Kamble. Some of the key members of DICCI are Kalpana Saroj, Chandra Bhan Prasad and Rajesh Saraiya.

The European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) was constituted in 2008 as a programme co-funded by the European Union. It transitioned to an independent organisation in March 2016, continuing the EU mandate to facilitate Europe-India cross-border collaboration. EBTC as an organisation is coordinated by EUROCHAMBRES, the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

The German Chambers of Commerce Abroad support German companies with establishing and extending business relations in 90 countries and 130 locations. The AHKs also promote trade and joint business between Germany and a foreign country.

The German-Czech Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DTIHK) is located in Prague and belongs to the worldwide network of German Chambers of Commerce Abroad. The Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce is the respective umbrella organisation. The DTIHK employs some 40 people and has about 670 voluntary members which makes it the largest bilateral Chamber of Commerce Abroad in the Czech Republic. AHK Services s.r.o. is the chambers service society and a wholly owned subsidiary of the DTIHK.
