Industrial Training Institute, Shibpur, (also known as ITI Shibpur), established in 1950, is one of the oldest government vocational training institute located in Shibpur, Howrah, West Bengal. This college established in the year 1950 within the campus of the then Bengal Engineering College. On and from the date of establishment up to the date of up-gradation of Bengal Engineering College to Deemed University in the year 1993 this institute was under the administrative control of the B.E College. This ITI offers different training courses on Carpenter, Electrician, Fitter, Foundryman, Machinist, Turner, Welder, Wireman, Sheet Metal Worker.

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination or the WBJEE is a state-government controlled centralized test, conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board for admission to many private and governmental medical and engineering institutions in West Bengal. The test is taken after the 12th grade for admission to graduation courses. The exam can be taken by those who studied Pure Science stream in plus two level with the specific subjects tested in the examination, which are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. There are actually two separate tests for medical and engineering, the difference being that the medical test has the Biology paper while the engineering test has the Mathematics paper.

He was credited with the establishment of the department of production engineering at Jadavpur University. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards for his contributions to Engineering Sciences in 1971.
