The Indy Classic is a doubleheader college basketball showcase held annually at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. It replaced the previously popular Crossroads Classic. It features the Purdue Boilermakers and the Ball State Cardinals. The other two teams have rotated through the years to include the Davidson Wildcats, the Illinois State Redbirds, the Arizona Wildcats and the Indiana State Sycamores.

The showcase is an annual fundraiser for the Indiana Sport's Corp's non-profit mission. [1] [2]

President of the nonprofit Indiana Sports Corp has confirmed that they are working to schedule teams through the 2027 season. [3]

History

In 2022, the doubleheader was founded as a replacement to the Crossroads Classic. An indefinite agreement has been made with the stakeholders to host the event each December. [4]

In 2023, the event was a sell out crowd. [5] Peacock had exclusive broadcast rights to games, and viewing was only available through their streaming service. [6] The #1 Arizona Wildcats were upset by #3 Purdue Boilermakers [7]

In 2024, the headliner match up will be between #11 Purdue Boilermakers and #17 Texas A&M. [8] #20 Wisconsin and Butler are both making their first appearance in the showcase.

In 2025, the headliner match up will be between Purdue Boilermakers and Auburn.

The Crossroads Classic was a four-team college basketball tournament held annually at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. It featured Indiana's four most accomplished men's NCAA Division I basketball schools each year - being the Butler Bulldogs, the Indiana Hoosiers, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Purdue Boilermakers. In odd numbered years, Notre Dame played Indiana while Butler played Purdue. In even numbered years, Notre Dame played Purdue while Butler played Indiana. Purdue and Indiana did not play each other in the Classic, as they are Big Ten conference rivals.

Thus making Brian Brohm, Jeff’s younger brother, the interim head coach for Purdue’s game against LSU at the Citrus Bowl which Purdue was granted a bid from representing the Big Ten West, thanks to an 8-4 season finishing at 6-3 in Big Ten play which placed them at the top of their division, in the Big Ten Championship Game for the first time in school history against Michigan, where they lost. In the Citrus Bowl, Purdue lost that game 63-7 with the absence of 4 players including starting quarterback, Aidan O’Connell, and star wide receiver, Charlie Jones. After the bowl, on December 13, 2022, the school named former Illinois defensive coordinator Ryan Walters the team's new head coach. Walters will be the fourth youngest head football coach at the NCAA Division I FBS level.The Boilermakers played their home games at Ross–Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana.

The Boilermakers played their home games at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana as members of the Big Ten Conference.
