Ingrid Christensen Kildegaard (died September 2, 1984 in Haines Falls, New York) was an American statistician and market researcher who worked at the Advertising Research Foundation as a vice president and technical director. [1]

Early life

Kildegaard graduated from Central Michigan University (Michigan State Teachers College) in 1936. [2] [3] She did her graduate studies at the University of Minnesota, completing a master's degree in statistics there in 1950. [1] [3] [4]

Career

She joined the Advertising Research Foundation in 1956 and was promoted to Director of Technical Services in 1965. [5] At around that time, she became involved in discussions with the United States Census Bureau over whether they should survey ownership of advanced television sets capable of color and of receiving UHF signals. [6] In 1970 she served as chair of the Subsection on Statistics in Marketing of the American Statistical Association. [7] She retired in 1982. [1]

Recognition

In 1967, she was elected as a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. [8] The Market Research Council added her to their Hall of Fame in 2007. [9]

Edmund Jerome McCarthy was an American marketing professor and author. He proposed the concept of the 4 Ps marketing mix in his 1960 book Basic Marketing: A Managerial Approach, which has been one of the top textbooks in university marketing courses since its publication. According to the Oxford Dictionary of Marketing, McCarthy was a "pivotal figure in the development of marketing thinking". He was also a founder, advisory board member, and consultant for Planned Innovation Institute, which was established to bolster Michigan industry. In 1987, McCarthy received the American Marketing Association's Trailblazer Award, and was voted one of the "top five" leaders in marketing thought by the field's educators.

Harry Henry was one of Britain's market research pioneers whose contributions to its acceptance and understanding won him an international reputation. He was the last survivor of the 23 founders of the Market Research Society (MRS), which he helped establish in 1947, and which now has 8,000 members in 50 countries. He married Mary Anstey, daughter of Vera Anstey, in 1938. She died in 1989, a year after they had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
