The Inn of Chicago, originally known as the Hotel St. Clair, was built in 1927 by Oman & Lihienthal, and is located at 162 East Ohio Street in the Streeterville neighborhood of Chicago. The hotel is currently[ as of? ] part of the Choice Hotels International hotel chain, after a history involving many exchanges between management companies.
The 250 ft (76 m) Inn of Chicago Magnificent Mile Hotel is located on the northwest corner of Ohio Street and St. Clair, one block east of the Magnificent Mile shopping district in downtown Chicago, Illinois.
The structure was built as the Hotel St. Clair in 1927 by Oman & Lihienthal [3] and decorated by Geo. P. Davidson. Half of the 21-story building was designated one-bedroom residences to Chicago's most prominent figures of the 1920s. The remainder was hotel rooms and was frequented by well-known guests such as Judy Garland, Gypsy Rose Lee, Roy Rogers, Dean Martin, Bob Hope, Jerry Lewis and Irv Kupcinet [4]
The top floor, known as the Skyline Terrace Penthouse housed the Chicago Press Club from 1960 to 1978. The Chicago Press Club occupied this 22nd-floor space longer than any location in its history and during its residency it hosted to some of Chicago’s most famous newscasters. [5] In 1980, Hotel St. Clair was renamed The Inn of Chicago after a $13 million renovation. Shell Hospitality Group reopened the hotel in February 1982 as part of the Best Western chain. In November 2006, the Chartres Lodging Group umbrella of hotels purchased the Inn of Chicago from Best Western for $40 million. [6]
After the sale, the hotel underwent major renovations including a new lobby, new guest rooms, bathrooms, and a refurbished lobby and bar. The primary historic façade and trademark "Inn of Chicago" neon sign were restored. [7] The restoration resulted in 359 guest rooms, six suites, and 5,800 square feet (540 m2) of meeting space. The 22-story hotel is now equipped with a fitness center, business center, innbar, and a street-level Lavazza café with outdoor seating area. The latest renovation gave the rooms a boutique hotel feel reminiscent of the 1920s.
IOC Hotel, LLC, a joint venture between The Chartres Lodging Group of San Francisco and Longwing Real Estate Ventures, LLC, a member of the Dubai Investment Group purchased the Inn of Chicago. [7] Kokua Hospitality LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Chartres Lodging Group, LLC has managed the Inn of Chicago since its re-opening in 2006. The venture also operates The Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile, the Allerton Hotel in Chicago and the Aloft Washington National Harbor. In 2009, the Inn of Chicago became part of the Maryland-based Choice Hotels International and Ascend Collection chain of hotels. [8]
A hotel is an establishment that provides paid lodging on a short-term basis. Facilities provided inside a hotel room may range from a modest-quality mattress in a small room to large suites with bigger, higher-quality beds, a dresser, a refrigerator, and other kitchen facilities, upholstered chairs, a television, and en-suite bathrooms. Adam's Mark Hotels & Resorts was a chain of upscale hotels in the United States. The company was headquartered in the HBE Corporation offices in Creve Coeur, Missouri, in Greater St. Louis. Fred Kummer founded the chain in the early 1970s, as well as its parent, HBE Corp.

The hotel brand is owned by The Blackstone Group's real estate business. Blackstone purchased the business in 2012 from Accor Hotels, and established G6 Hospitality as the management company for Motel 6 and Studio 6.
The Palmer House – A Hilton Hotel is a historic hotel in Chicago's Loop area. It is a member of the Historic Hotels of America program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The first Palmer House opened in 1870, and the present building in 1925. In the 19th century, the Palmer House was the city's first hotel with elevators, and the first hotel with electric light bulbs and telephones in the guest rooms. The hotel has been dubbed the longest continuously operating hotel in North America, although it temporarily closed from March 2020 to June 17, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The New York Life Insurance Building is a 14-story building at 39 South LaSalle Street in the Loop neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois. Designed by William Le Baron Jenney, it was completed as a 12-story structure in 1894 at a cost of $800,000, equivalent to $28,172,308 in 2023. In 1898, Jenney designed a 92 ft (28 m) addition to the east of the original structure. This expanded the Monroe Street facade to 233 ft (71 m). The addition contained 13 floors and an additional floor was added to the first structure. The expansion also added an entrance on Monroe Street and enlarged the lobby. In 1903, a fourteenth floor was added bring the building to its current height.
The Warwick Allerton - Chicago is a 25-story 360 ft (110 m) hotel skyscraper on the Magnificent Mile in the Near North Side community area of Chicago, Illinois. It was the first building in the city to feature pronounced setbacks and towers resulting from the 1923 zoning law. The building was designated a Chicago Landmark on May 29, 1998.
