The competitions to declare intercollegiate champions in cycling in the United States are organized by National Collegiate Cycling Association, a division of USA Cycling.
In the fall of 2016, previous Division I and Division II categories were replaced by varsity and club divisions after many schools launched varsity programs in cycling, a traditionally club sport. [1]
Championships are held in track, mountain biking, cyclocross, BMX, and road disciplines in 11 conferences nationwide, with national championships occurring once a year for each discipline.
Collegiate cycling in the USA is organized into eleven geographic conferences:

Cyclo-cross is a form of bicycle racing. Races typically take place in the autumn and winter, and consist of many laps of a short course featuring pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles requiring the rider to quickly dismount, carry the bike while navigating the obstruction and remount. Races for senior categories are generally between 40 minutes and an hour long, with the distance varying depending on the ground conditions. The sport is strongest in the traditional road cycling countries such as Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
Alison Dunlap is an American professional cyclist. She won the world cross-country mountain bike championship in 2001 and two Mountain Bike World Cup races. She also won the Redlands Bicycle Classic on the road in 1996.
Katie Compton is an American former bicycle racer. She specialized in cyclo-cross racing and is a 15-time national champion. Compton formerly piloted a tandem with a blind partner in Paralympic events.
Ryan Trebon is a retired American bicycle racer, born in Loma Linda, California. He specialized in cyclo-cross and mountain bike racing. In cyclo-cross, Trebon captured the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross series championship four different times.
USA Cycling or USAC, based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is the national governing body for bicycle racing in the United States. It covers the disciplines of road, track, mountain bike, cyclo-cross, and BMX across all ages and ability levels. In 2015, USAC had a membership of 61,631 individual members.
Timothy Johnson is an American professional racing cyclist who has found success in cyclocross and road bicycle racing, and is one of only five male riders from the United States to stand on a UCI Cyclocross World Championships podium. Johnson has six career national championships – three Elite, two Espoir and one Junior – and a bronze medal from the UCI Cyclocross World Championships that he won in 1999 in Poprad, Slovakia. Johnson spent his 2009 road season riding for the Ouch presented by Maxxis team, of which he is the Road Captain. For 2010, Johnson rode for UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team presented by Maxxis. Johnson is divorced of fellow professional cyclist Lyne Bessette. In June 2018 Tim was named the director for development for the USA Cycling Foundation.
The United States National Cyclocross Championships is a four-day competition held annually each winter and is sponsored by USA Cycling. The winners at various levels, including elite, U-23, masters, juniors, and collegiate for men and women, wear the coveted stars and stripes jersey and are crowned United States national cyclo-cross champions.
Todd Wells is a professional cyclist specializing in mountain bike racing and cyclo-cross from the United States. Todd resides in Durango, Colorado and Tucson, Arizona. Wells races for the SRAM/TLD Factory Racing team for mountain bike racing.
Georgia Gould is an American professional mountain bike and cyclocross competitor, and Olympian. She has earned five career national championships – four in cross-country mountain bike in 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2012, and one in short track mountain bike in 2009. In 2012, Gould won the bronze medal at the London Olympic Games in cross country mountain bike. From 2006-2016 Gould was employed by the LUNA Pro Team. In 2012, Gould was named North American MTB Woman of the Year by VeloNews magazine.She currently resides in East Burke, Vermont with her husband, Dusty LaBarr.

Cannondale–Cyclocrossworld.com is a professional Cyclocross team based and registered in the United States. The team is sponsored by American bicycle manufacturer Cannondale and cyclocross equipment retailer Cyclocrossworld.com. The team is managed and directed by Stu Thorne. With the retirement of veteran racer Tim Johnson after the 2014 season, the team returned for the 2015 season headed by returning riders, Ryan Trebon, Curtis White, and Kaitlin Antonneau. Stephen Hyde was added to the 2015 roster after completing his second season on the road with the Astellas Professional Cycling Team.
Adam Myerson is an American professional bicycle racer specializing in cyclo-cross and criterium racing.
James "Jamey" Driscoll is professional American Cyclocross and road racing cyclist. Driscoll's career was thrust into prominence following an eye-opening performance at the 2008 US Cyclocross National Championships in Kansas City, Missouri, where Driscoll bested many of the pre-race favorites en route to a second-place finish – his first career Elite Cyclocross medal. Driscoll made a name for himself riding for the New England–based Fiordifruita team, before signing with the Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com professional cyclocross team before the 2008 season. On the road, Driscoll's exploits with Fiordifruita garnered him a spot on the controversial Rock Racing squad at the beginning of the 2009 season. After a tumultuous road season, Driscoll signed with the Jamis–Sutter Home squad for 2010.
Jeremy Powers is an American former professional racing cyclist, who has achieved over 90 UCI victories, four USA Cyclocross national championships, and the 2015 Pan American Championship during his career. He was a presenter for the Global Cycling Network before joining WHOOP.
The Fort Lewis Skyhawks are the athletic teams that represent Fort Lewis College, located in Durango, Colorado, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Skyhawks compete as members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for all 11 varsity sports. The college's teams were previously known as the Beavers, Aggies, and Raiders.
Kaitlin Keough is an American professional racing cyclist who has found success in cyclocross and road bicycle racing despite her young age, winning multiple national championships in both cyclocross and on the track.
Matrix Fitness was a British cycling team which competed in road bicycle racing and track cycling events from 2009 to 2016. For the 2015 season the team registered as a UCI Women's Team, the top level of professional women's cycling, so could compete in elite international events including the UCI Women's Road World Cup. The team was sponsored by Matrix Fitness, Milltag, and Vulpine.
Meredith Miller is a Cyclo cross and road cyclist from United States. She was educated at Guilford High School, where she graduated in 1992, and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin–Madison and San Francisco State University, where she earned a B.S. and an M.A. in kinesiology in 1996 and 2002 respectively. Miller competed in track athletics in high school and soccer in both high school and college. After graduating from college she played semi-professional soccer for a team in Madison for one season before the team disbanded, following which she was introduced to cycling by her then boyfriend. She represented her nation at the 2009 UCI Road World Championships and in cyclo cross at the 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships.
Amy Alison Dombroski was an American professional cyclist, who competed in cyclocross, road, and mountain bike racing. An American National Champion in Road, Cyclocross, and Mountain Bike (2009), Dombroski also competed internationally, representing the United States at UCI World Championship Cyclocross, UCI World Cup Cyclocross, and UCI World Championship Cross Country Mountain Biking events.
Christina Marie Birch is an American professional racing cyclist and NASA astronaut.

Last year (in 1999), more than 300 riders, representing 60-plus schools, participated in the National Collegiate Mountain Bike Championships held in Helen, Ga. The University of Colorado, three-time national champions, claimed last year's team title.
