International Day of Education is an annual international observance day held on January 24 and is dedicated to education. [1] On December 3, 2018, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming January 24 as International Day of Education, in celebration of the role of education for bringing global peace and sustainable development. History

January 24 was declared the international Day of Education by a resolution that was passed by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 3 December 2018. Thereafter, on 24th January 2019 the first International Day of Education was celebrated. The message by UNGA is being spread across the globe. Their sincere efforts world wide have shown promising results in the betterment of an educated individual that constitute a cultured society, which is supported with optimism and opportunities. The School Day of Non-violence and Peace is an observance founded by the Spanish poet Llorenç Vidal Vidal in Majorca in 1964 as a starting point and support for a pacifying and non-violent education of a permanent character. Different as the first proposed by the UNESCO "Armistice Day" in 1948, DENIP is observed on January 30 or thereabouts every year, on the anniversary of the death of Mahatma Gandhi, in schools all over the world. In countries with a Southern Hemisphere school calendar, it can be observed on 30 March. Its basic and permanent message is: "Universal love, non-violence and peace. Universal love is better than egoism, non-violence is better than violence, and peace is better than war". In Navarra the slogan for the 2009 was "above all, we are friends".

<span class="mw-page-title-main">International Mother Earth Day</span> International observance, 22 April

International Mother Earth Day was established in 2009, by the United Nations General Assembly under Resolution A/RES/63/278. The Resolution was introduced by Bolivia and endorsed by over 50 member states. It recognizes that "the Earth and its ecosystems are our home" and that "it is necessary to promote harmony with nature and the Earth." The term Mother Earth is used because it "reflects the interdependence that exists among human beings, other living species and the planet we all inhabit". It is decided to designate April 22 as International Mother Earth Day.

Llorenzo Vidal Vidal, Majorcan poet, educator and pacifist. In 1964 he founded the School Day of Non-violence and Peace (DENIP). It is a pioneering, non-state, non-governmental, non-official, independent, free and voluntary initiative of Non-violent and Pacifying Education which is now practised in schools all over the world. In this, centres of education, teachers and students of all levels and from all countries are invited to take part. In 2010, the Cercle Universel des Ambassadeurs de la Paix, Geneva (Switzerland), has appointed him Ambassador of Peace.

World Radio Day is an international day celebrated on the 13th of February each year. The day was designated by UNESCO on the 3rd of November, 2011, during its 36th conference.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">International Jazz Day</span> International event for the promotion of jazz music

International Jazz Day is an International Day declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 2011 "to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe." It is celebrated annually on April 30. The idea came from jazz pianist and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Herbie Hancock. Jazz Day is chaired by Hancock and the UNESCO Director-General. The celebration is recognized on the calendars of both UNESCO and the United Nations.
