International German Piano Award

The International German Piano Award is a yearly international music competition for classical piano music since 2011. The International Piano Forum is the initiator and organizer of the competition.

Contents

The prize money amounts to a total of 20,000 euros and aims to support outstanding Pianists. A first international jury elects and nominates pianists under notary procedure. A second jury then votes for the Laureate of the International German Piano Award. The following support of the nominated provides concerts at concert halls and contacts to conductors as well as orchestras. The International Piano Forum supports furthermore the production of CDs, websites and an artist portfolio. In the last years, the Grand Finale took place at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt am Main.

Dmitri Aleksandrovich Bashkirov was a Russian pianist and academic teacher. The Thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition took place in Fort Worth, Texas from May 22 to June 7, 2009. The competitors were selected by a screening jury during screening auditions that took place in January and February 2009. The Takács Quartet performed with the semifinalists, while the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra conducted by James Conlon accompanied the finalists.

Hailed by The Guardian as a pianist with "the magic touch of...Murray Perahia and Radu Lupu", he won the gold medal at the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2018 at age 20. He records for Warner Classics under an exclusive contract, and has performed with many of the world's major orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony, and Orchestre national de Lille; upcoming debuts include appearances as soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra.

Yekwon Sunwoo is a South Korean classical pianist. In 2017, at 28 years old, Sunwoo was the first Korean to win the gold medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He won the Sendai International Music Competition in 2013.

Alexander Mikhailovich Lubyantsev is a Russian pianist and composer. He is a laureate of the 2004 Sydney International Piano Competition and the 2007 International Tchaikovsky Competition, at which he received the bronze medal, no gold awarded, and has also been a prizewinner in over ten other piano competitions. His performance at the 2011 Tchaikovsky Competition and the ensuing events are also quite significant.

Recognized as one of the most outstanding pianists of the younger generation, music critics have described Sinchuk as a "bright new phenomenon in a modern musical world". Sinchuk's honors include winning numerous international competitions, such as the Rachmaninoff International Competition (2008), International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz (2012), International Competition Nuits Européennes du Piano, and Grand Prize at the 6th Prix Du Piano Interlaken Classics. In 2011, Sinchuk was a semifinalist at the XIV International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition.
