The International Leaders Programme (ILP) is an international leadership development and networking programme. [1] The programme is organised and delivered by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the Government of the United Kingdom. [2] The ILP is not to be confused by programmes of a similar name provided by other organisations.

Contents

Background

The ILP was established in March 2013 by former Foreign Secretary William Hague. [3] It identifies potential global leaders of the future and brings them to the United Kingdom for high-level meetings, briefings, and diplomatic visits. [4] The goal of the programme is to promote lasting global partnerships with emerging leaders and future decision-makers. [5]

ILP participants have represented 100 countries, and the alumni has over 350 members to date.[ citation needed ]

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) is a department of the Government of the United Kingdom. It was created on 2 September 2020 through the merger of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the Department for International Development (DFID). The FCO, itself created in 1968 by the merger of the Foreign Office (FO) and the Commonwealth Office, was responsible for protecting and promoting British interests worldwide.

The Chevening Scholarship is an international scholarship, funded by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, that lets foreign students with leadership qualities study at universities in the United Kingdom.

The Global Leadership Foundation (GLF) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation comprising a network of former heads of state or government and other distinguished leaders who seek to assist developing countries improve governance, bolster democratic institutions and resolve conflicts. The organisation does so by arranging for GLF Members to provide confidential peer-to-peer advice to current heads of governments committed to peace, democracy and development. The Global Leadership Foundation is active across the world. It works by invitation from a head of government and it's work is confidential.

Canada–Mongolia relations Bilateral relations

Canada–Mongolia relations are foreign relations between Canada and Mongolia. Both countries established diplomatic relations on November 30, 1973. Canada has been represented in Mongolia through an embassy since 2008. Mongolia has an embassy in Ottawa, and in 2002 opened an Honorary Consulate in Toronto. Though Canada and Mongolia established diplomatic ties in 1973, ad hoc linkages and minor activities occurred between the two countries mainly through the Canada-Mongolia Society, which disbanded in 1980. When Mongolia formed a democratic government in 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Canada began to support Mongolia with donor activities through the International Development Research Centre, Canadian International Development Agency and several non-governmental organizations.

Bilateral foreign relations between Singapore and the United Kingdom are represented by the UK's high commission in Singapore, and Singapore's high commission in London. Both countries are full members of the Commonwealth of Nations.

Naheed Nenshi 36th mayor of Calgary

Naheed Kurban Nenshi is a Canadian politician who was the 36th mayor of Calgary, Alberta. He was elected in the 2010 municipal election with 39% of the vote, and is the first Muslim mayor of a large North American city. He was re-elected in 2013 with 74% of the vote. He was again re-elected in 2017 to a third term with 51% of the vote. After serving 3 terms as mayor, he did not seek re-election in the 2021 Calgary municipal election, and was succeeded by Jyoti Gondek.

Sir Martin Eugene Donnelly, is a British former civil servant. He was Permanent Secretary of the Department for International Trade, until leaving the Civil Service on 24 March 2017.

Founded in 2005, by Frank-Jürgen Richter, former director of the World Economic Forum, Horasis is dedicated to the innovation and development of sustainable emerging markets. Australia–Kenya relations Bilateral relations

Bilateral relations exist between Australia and Kenya. Both Australia and Kenya were formerly part of the British Empire, although not simultaneously, and are current member states of the Commonwealth of Nations. As of 2020, both Commonwealth nations have maintained bilateral relations for 55 years.

Hong Kong–United Kingdom relations Bilateral relations

Hong Kong–United Kingdom relations refers to international relations between the post-colonial Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Hong Kong was a British colony from 1841 to 1941 and again from 1945 to 1997 when sovereignty was handed over to China. UK policy towards Hong Kong is underpinned by its substantial commercial interests, and fulfilling obligation as the other signatory of Sino–British Joint Declaration on the future of Hong Kong, in addition to support Hong Kong's mini-constitution, the Basic Law, and in accordance with China's policy of observing "one country, two systems".

The Diplomatic Academy was part of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) of the United Kingdom. It was renamed the International Academy following the merger of the FCO and the Department for International Development (DFID) in September 2020 to form the new Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
