Ioana Crăciunescu (born 1950) is a Romanian actress and poet.

Biography

Crăciunescu was born in Bucharest, the daughter of a civil engineer. She studied at the Caragiale Academy of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography in her native city and in 1973 became a member of the Novarra Theatre Company. She has published six volumes of collected poetry beginning with Duminica absentă (Sunday absent) in 1980 for which she won the Writers' Union of Romania Prize the following year. [1]

She made her film debut in 1974 and achieved her first major success in 1979 as Ana Baciu in the film Blestemul pământului, blestemul iubirii (The curse of the land, the curse of love). In 1991, she went to France to continue her acting career, primarily as a stage actress. Fifteen years later, she returned to Romania for a brief period and since then has divided her time between the two countries. [2]

Awards and honours

In 2009, she received the Nichita Stănescu National Poetry Award from the Romanian Ministry of Culture. [3]

Unification of Romania and Moldova Political movement

The unification of Romania and Moldova is a popular concept in the two countries beginning with the late 1980s, during the collapse of communism. The Romanian Revolution in 1989 and the independence of Moldova in 1991 further contributed to the development of a movement for the unification of the two Romanian-speaking countries. The question of reunification is recurrent in the public sphere of the two countries, often as a speculation, both as a goal and a danger. The idea, while widespread in Romania, is only supported by a minority in Moldova.

Alexandra Stan Romanian singer and songwriter

Alexandra Ioana Stan is a Romanian singer-songwriter. Born and raised in the city of Constanța, she made her worldwide breakthrough with the 2010 single "Mr. Saxobeat", which was written and produced by Marcel Prodan and Andrei Nemirschi. They had previously discovered Stan at a karaoke bar in 2009 and signed her to their label, Maan Records. "Mr. Saxobeat" had followed the singer's debut single, "Lollipop " (2009), which brought her moderate fame in Romania. "Mr. Saxobeat" quickly achieved commercial success locally and abroad, reaching number one in several countries and gathering various certifications. Saxobeats, Stan's debut studio album, was released in August 2011 and features the follow-up singles "Get Back (ASAP)" (2011) and "Lemonade" (2012), which fared moderately well in Europe.
