Netreba was a village in Wołyń Voivodeship (1921–1939), in Sarny county, gmina Kisorycze, Poland, destroyed by the UPA in July 1943. Many of its residents converted to Roman Catholicism before the onset of the Nazi German and Soviet invasion of Poland in 1939, which contributed to the 1943 murderous raid by the Ukrainian death squads. The few surviving Netreba refugees built dugouts in the forest where they saved themselves.

Sport in Azerbaijan has ancient roots, and even now, both traditional and modern sports are still practiced. Freestyle wrestling has been traditionally regarded as Azerbaijan's national sport, however today, the most popular sports in Azerbaijan are football and chess. Other popular sports are gymnastics, judo, futsal, weightlifting, and boxing. Azerbaijan's mountainous terrain provides great opportunities for the practice of sports like skiing and rock climbing. Water sports are practiced on the Caspian Sea and in inland waters. Competitively, Azerbaijan has been very successful at chess, weightlifting, and wrestling at the international level. Azerbaijan is also an active member of the international sports community, with full membership in the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), European Athletics Association (EAA), International Olympic Committee (IOC), among many others. It has also hosted the first European Games and 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games.

Yerevan Figure Skating and Hockey Sports School, is a figure skating centre and school in the Armenian capital Yerevan. The centre was opened in December 2015 and has a capacity of 538 seats. It is located on Admiral Isakov 27/10 Avenue, adjacent to the Yerevan Velodrome. The centre was named after the 10-time figure skating world champion and Russian politician Irina Rodnina. In 2019, the Yerevan City Council renamed the Irina Rodnina Figure Skating School to Yerevan Figure Skating and Hockey Sports School.

At the 2019 World Wrestling Championships held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, she won one of the bronze medals in the women's 65 kg event. She is also a five-time medalist, including gold, at the European Wrestling Championships. Manolova represented Azerbaijan at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Grace Jacob Bullen is a Norwegian freestyle wrestler. She won the silver medal in the 59 kg event at the 2022 World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia. She is a five-time medalist, including three gold medals, at the European Wrestling Championships. Bullen also won a bronze medal for Norway at the 2015 European Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
