Ispat Post Graduate Institute and Super Specialty Hospital (IPGI&SSH) [1] is a medical college and multi speciality hospital [2] located in sector 19 of the city of Rourkela in India. It is associated with the Rourkela Steel Plant.

History

Ispat General Hospital under RSP, SAIL, carries a legacy of six decades. With strength of 600 beds and established in the year 1959 to provide quality medical & health services to the employees of RSP, members of their family, supporting population and inhabitants of the neighboring areas of Odisha and its adjoining states.

Rourkela Airport is a domestic airport serving Rourkela, Odisha, India. It is located near Chhend Colony, 6 km (3.7 mi) west of the city centre. The airport is capable of handling ATR-72 type aircraft, an apron for parking of two aircraft at a time and a general aviation terminal. The license for commercial usage of the airport was issued in January 2019. The airport upgradation project was taken up by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at a cost of ₹ 64.24 crore. It involved expansion of the runway from 1,765 m to 1,930 m to handle larger aircraft, like the ATR-72 and De Havilland 8-400 aircraft, construction of a new apron, a parallel taxiway to the runway, a new passenger terminal building and a perimeter wall. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted licence to Rourkela Airport for public use on 19 December 2022. The airport was upgraded from 2B to 2C category type. Commercial operations to Rourkela began from 7 January 2023, with direct flights provided by Alliance Air to Bhubaneswar. Direct flights to Kolkata are also under proposal.

Rourkela is the educational, technical and medical research hub of Western Odisha. It houses many English medium schools which provide Central Board of Secondary Education and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education certificates to their students.

Ispat Stadium is a cricket stadium located in Rourkela, Odisha. The ground is mainly used for organizing matches of football, cricket and other sports. The stadium has hosted three Ranji Trophy matches in 1972 when Odisha cricket team played against Bihar cricket team. The stadium also hosted three List A matches from 1990 to 1993 as well as a Youth One Day International in 1990 when India Under-19 cricket team played Pakistan Under-19 cricket team. Up to January 2016 it was again ready to host national and list A matches and it is well maintained stadium.

Chakradharpur railway division is one of the four railway divisions under South Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways. This railway division was formed on 14 April 1952 and its headquarter is located at Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum district of the state of Jharkhand of India.
