Akwa Ibom is a state in Nigeria. It is located in the coastal southern part of the country, lying between latitudes 4°32′N and 5°33′N, and longitudes 7°25′E and 8°25′E. The state is located in the South-South geopolitical zone, and is bordered on the east by Cross River State, on the west by Rivers State and Abia State, and on the south by the Atlantic Ocean and the southernmost tip of Cross River State.
The Maka or Makaa are a Bantu ethnic group inhabiting the southern rain forest zone of Cameroon. They live primarily in the northern portions of the Upper Nyong division of Cameroon's East Province. The popular annual Akwa Ibom Christmas Carol, organized by the Akwa Ibom State Government, always holds at the stadium. The stadium is located close to a major market in Uyo City, called Akpan Andem Market. The stadium has a capacity of 5,000 people.

She was elected into the senate during the 2019 general elections of Nigeria. She won with a total vote of 122,412. Before being elected into the senate she was the former Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development during the regime of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
