JaMichael Morgan (born December 22, 1998) is an American professional basketball player who last played for KB Peja of the Kosovo Basketball Superleague. He competed for Blue Valley Northwest High School and Link Year Prep. In 2018, he joined the Seattle Ballers of the Junior Basketball Association

High school career

Morgan attended Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas, where he competed on the football, basketball, and track and field teams. He finished 7th in Kansas in the triple jump. Morgan was named honorable mention All-6A as a junior on the basketball team. [1] He was also named to the All-810 Varsity Third Team after averaging 10 points per game. [2] He teamed with Tulsa commit Darien Jackson to lead Blue Valley Northwest to the state semifinals, where they lost to Shawnee Mission North High School. [3] As a senior, Morgan was named to the First Team All-Class 6A. [4] He was a McDonald's All American nominee. [5] He represented Kansas in the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association Missouri vs. Kansas All-Star Game on April 7, 2017. [6]

A three-star recruit according to Rivals.com, Morgan signed with Oral Roberts in November 2016. [1] However, he decommitted from Oral Roberts after coach Scott Sutton was fired. [7] He did a postgraduate year at Link Year Prep. [8]

Professional career

Instead of attending college, Morgan joined the Seattle Ballers of the Junior Basketball Association in 2018. “This is my dream, just to play basketball and not worry about nothing,” he said. [9] He averaged 25.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 3.3 steals, and one block per game for Seattle. [10] Morgan scored 13 points in the championship game loss to the Los Angeles Ballers. [11] In September 2018, Morgan was named to the JBA's USA Select team as one of the top 13 players in the league. [12]

Morgan declared for the 2019 NBA draft, [13] but was undrafted. On September 12, 2019, Morgan signed with KB Peja of Kosovo's top division. [14]

Personal life

Morgan is the son of Dinsdale Morgan and Jeanetta Lyle-Morgan, who met at Pittsburg State University. [15] His father was an Olympian in the 400-meter hurdles. [16] JaMichael has two siblings: Dinsdale and Jakaila. Dinsdale Jr. competes in track and field at the University of Kansas. [15]

Marquis "Kezo" Brown Jr. is an American professional basketball player for the Chicago Angels of the American Basketball Association (ABA). He competed for Simeon Career Academy in his hometown of Chicago, where he was a three-star recruit and one of the top high school players in Illinois from his freshman year. Despite being sidelined and hospitalized with mental health issues in multiple seasons at Simeon, he continued drawing interest from Chicago State, eventually committing to play for them at the NCAA Division I level. Gregory Floyd Jr. is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Los Angeles Ballers of the Junior Basketball Association (JBA). He played for three different schools at the high school level, emerging as a four-star recruit and one of the top-ranked prospects in Nevada while at Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas. Despite receiving several NCAA Division I offers, he was considered academically ineligible after his grades plummeted due to the death of his sister, continuing his career at Antelope Valley College before moving to the JBA.

The 2018 JBA season was the only season of the Junior Basketball Association (JBA), an American men's professional basketball league. The JBA was designed as an alternative to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), allowing high school and junior college players to immediately play professionally. The season began on June 21 and concluded with the JBA Finals on August 12, 2018. After the season concluded, the JBA selected many of its top players to take part in what was originally a 28-game international season against teams from various countries in Europe and Asia. However, an incident in Lithuania lead to a shortening of the event, with teams dropping out of matches and Asian teams cancelling their matches for late 2018 and early 2019 altogether.

Jerell Dwayne Springer is an American basketball player for BC Kavkasia of the Georgia A League. Standing 6 feet 6 inches (1.98 m) and weighing 180 pounds (81.6 kg), he was a top prospect in Nevada at the high school level, attending Shadow Ridge and Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas. Although his senior season at the latter school was beset by eligibility issues, he was a three-star recruit and committed to play college basketball for Southern Utah. However, he chose to not enroll and later decided to join the JBA.
