The district covers 100 square miles (260 km2) in southwestern Stark County and serves students south of Massillon including the villages of Beach City, Brewster, Navarre, and Wilmot, and the townships of Sugar Creek and Bethlehem. The Pre–5 elementary school houses about 840 students as well as a small preschool wing, the middle school for grades 6–8 houses 440 students, and Fairless High School is home to 650 students in grades 9 through 12.

His roles included President of Central Alloy Steel from 1928 to 1930; First Vice President of Republic Steel from 1930 to 1935; President of the Carnegie-Illinois Steel Company from 1935 to 1938; and then President (1938–1955), and later Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the board of directors (1952–1955) of U.S. Steel, the largest steel corporation in the United States.
