Jackie Slack (born 25 July 1959) is a British former footballer who played as a left back for the England women's national football team, playing thirty two matches and scoring one goal. She was part of the team at the 1987 Women's EURO held in Norway. [1] [2] Slack is also a two time winner of the Women's FA Cup.

Club Career

During her club career she won the 1982 WFA Cup final with Lowestoft Ladies F.C. They beat Cleveland Spartans 2-0 in the final held at Loftus Road, with Slack as captain. [3] [4] She won the WFA Cup for a second time in 1986 whilst playing for Norwich, after they beat Doncaster Belles 4-3 in the final at Carrow Road. [5] [6]

England

Slack made her England debut at the 1984 Mundialito held in Italy. She played her first game at the Stadio Armando Picchi in Jesolo in a 1-1 draw against Belgium. [7] In November 2022, Slack was recognized by The Football Association as one of the England national team's legacy players, and as the 64th women's player to be capped by England. [8] [9]

Life outside football

Before making a name for herself in the football world, Slack was an England junior badminton player. [10]

In total Chapman scored a record ten goals in WFA Cup finals and won the tournament six times between 1973 and 1981.

Linda Curl is an English former footballer who played as a midfielder or forward for the England women's national football team winning 62 caps and scoring 27 goals. At club level she won the WFA Cup with Lowestoft Ladies in 1982 and also with Norwich in 1986, scoring in both finals.

Lowestoft Ladies Football Club was a football club based in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England. One of the top clubs in the country during the late 1970s and early 1980s, they won the WFA Cup in 1981–82, but folded less than a year later after the league they played in was discontinued. Nicknamed 'The Waves', the club played at Lowestoft Town's Crown Meadow ground.

The 1982 WFA Cup Final was the 12th final of the FA Women's Cup, England's primary cup competition for women's football teams. The showpiece event was played under the auspices of the Women's Football Association (WFA). Lowestoft Ladies and Cleveland Spartans contested the match at Loftus Road in London on 1 May 1982. Lowestoft Ladies won 20.

She won 6 caps for the England Women's national team and was the 66th women capped by England, receiving her legacy number in 2022. She won the Women's FA Cup four times with four different clubs during the 1980s before going to play in Italy.
