The Jackson-Madison County School System (JMCSS), also referred to as the Jackson-Madison County School District, is the public school district serving Jackson, Tennessee, and the rest of Madison County. The district is headquartered in Jackson and, as of 2016, had an enrollment exceeding 13,000 students. [2]
In 2015, superintendent Verna Ruffin introduced the Vision 2020 initiative, a strategic plan intended to improve district operations and academic outcomes. Implementation of the plan resulted in the closure of five schools.
As of 2016, the district’s budget was funded by the Madison County government. The current superintendent is Dr. Marlon King.
