Jacob Shaw is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by Ben Raab and Charlie Adlard. He is only about 4 feet tall, a human mutate, and a member of the Hellfire Club. Jacob is the father of Sebastian Shaw, the Black King of the Hellfire Club and an enemy of the X-Men.
Jacob Shaw is the son of Cornelius Shaw and younger brother of Esau Shaw. In 1915, after the death of Cornelius, Esau is offered his father's place in the Hellfire Club, a position Jacob covets.[ volume & issue needed ]
One night, Jacob meets Mister Sinister, who, for reasons unknown, grants him the power of shapeshifting. With this new power, Jacob takes the form of Hellfire Club member Waltham Pierce and murders Esau, hoping that with Esau dead, the Hellfire Club will seek Jacob to take his father's place. Instead, Union Jack arrests the real Pierce on charges of treason and murder.[ volume & issue needed ]
Eventually, Jacob Shaw flees to Pennsylvania, where his son Sebastian is born. In his old age, Jacob contracts an incurable blood disease due to the alteration of his genetic code, which ultimately kills him. [2] [1]
