Jaden Natalie Leach (born March 16, 1992) is an American beauty pageant titleholder from West Monroe, Louisiana who was named Miss Louisiana 2013. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Biography

She won the title of Miss Louisiana on June 29, 2013, when she received her crown from outgoing titleholder Lauren Vizza. [5] [6] Leach's platform is "Children at Risk" and she said she hoped to help children with learning disabilities to focus on what they excel at during her year as Miss Louisiana. [7] [8] Her competition talent was a vocal rendition of "Can't Let Go." [9] Leach is a graduate of West Monroe High School and is a senior at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, majoring in political science. [10] [11] Leach is the fourth University of Louisiana at Monroe student to be crowned Miss Louisiana in the past five years. [12]

The Miss Louisiana competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Louisiana in the Miss America pageant. Although no delegate from Louisiana has ever won the Miss America title, four have placed 1st runner-up. As of 2022, Louisiana is the lone member of the Confederacy during the Civil War which has not produced a Miss America.

The most frequently presented Miss America awards are for preliminary talent and swimsuit. The talent award was introduced in 1936, and the swimsuit award in 1940. In the 2000s, preliminary awards for evening gown and interview were briefly introduced but were discontinued after two years as it was felt that they made the semi-finalists too predictable.

At the conclusion of the event, Maria DeSantis of Texas crowned her successor Caitlin Brunell of Virginia. The pageant was hosted by Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson and performer Billy Flanigan.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Miss America 2019</span>

The Miss America 2019 pageant/competition was the 92nd Miss America pageant, though the Miss America Organization celebrated its 98th anniversary in 2018. This discrepancy is due to national pageants not being held from 1928–1932 or in 1934 because of financial problems associated with the Great Depression. The 2019 competition was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. On May 23, 2018, it was announced that the pageant would air live on ABC on Sunday, September 9, 2018. This was the last Miss America to be aired on ABC before would be moving to NBC beginning from 2020 pageant.
