Jagadeesh Kanna (born September 22, 1988) is an Indian stage actor, [1] playwright, film director, and lyricist best known for writing and directing Oru Cup Coffee, a short film on mercy killing. [2] and Never Give Up, a play inspired by the life of Olympic athlete Derek Redmond. Kanna [3] [4] [1] had his acting debut as the lead in the crowd-funded Tamil film Naalu Peruku Nalladhuna Edhuvum Thappilla (2017). [5] [6] He is also the founder and CEO of Vaayusastra Aerospace, [7] [8] an educational and research firm combining theatre and aeronautics, with the goal of taking aeronautical knowledge to every village in India. Vaayusastra Aerospace is incubated and funded under IIT Madras's RTBI. Early life

Jagadeesh Kanna was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, to a Saurashtrian palkar father and mother. He grew up in Thanjavur, India, reached Chennai for post graduation education where he attended IIT Madras as PhD Course work student in creative writing - humanities and sciences department and Hindustan University as a master's degree student in aeronautical engineering. [17] [18] He has a bachelor's degree in aeronautics from Nehru Institute of Engineering Technology, Coimbatore. While in college, he worked as an actor for The Little Theatre and served as joint secretary of the cultural committee for Hindustan University. [19] Kanna is a co-founder and CEO of Vaayusastra Aerospace, [20] an educational firm combining theatre arts, aeronautics and practical sciences, which is officially recognized as "Rural Technology Development Firm" by Indian Institute of Technology Madras and incubated under the Rural Technology Business Incubator, which falls under India's Ministry of Science and Technology. Career

CEO Vaayusastra Aerospace

As CEO of Vaayusastra Aerospace Kanna created a theatre based aeronautics and aerospace curriculum for children from age five onwards, [24] heads the R&D unit of Vaayusastra which focuses on various aerospace research areas in aerostats, aerodynes, space suits, [25] [P 1] cube satellites [26] [27] and rocket control systems. Kanna was featured in IIT Madras innovation series for his contribution and research in aeronautics and aerospace education. [28] He writes a fortnightly series in Hindu Young World under the title "Sky High". It is a re-imaginative version of the Ramayana with Hanuman and Megnath as the primary characters and the story narrated from an aeronautical and aerospace science perspective. [29] Kanna was featured in a Tamil hybrid web series titled Theervai Nokki for his works in Vaayusastra Aerospace and featured several times in IIT Madras Incubation Cell articles related to aeronautics and education. Under his leadership Vaayusastra achieved ISRO Space Tutor status. [30] and Team Vaayusastra become Drone training partner for Government of Tamil Nadu initiative TNSDC Naan Mudhalvan Program to train 3600 Engineering college students., [31] Vaayusastra has achieved the Candidacy status with Council for International American Accreditation, Newyork with support of Dr.Mohanalakshmi, Regional Director AIAASC.

Actor

Kanna began his stage career in pantomimes for The Little Theatre from 2009 to 2012. [32] He continued performing for several years. [33] [34] The Madras Mag published his short story AnnaParavai. [35]

In 2015, he performed in The Hindu Theatre fest. He was seen in Grand Rehearsals in Chennai to positive reviews. [36]

In addition to stage work, he acted in Tamil feature films Naalu Peruku Nalladhuna Edhuvum Thappilla (2017) [37] and Thirai kadal (awaiting for release) [23]

Director

In addition to working as an assistant director for Sarvam Thaala Mayam (2019) and 90 ML (2019), [9] Kanna directed a feature film titled "The Stealer" [38] and short film titled Oru Cup Coffee. [39] [40] [41] [42] The film was screened at international short film festivals Cisff and Aisff. [43] [44]

Lyricist

Kanna had his lyricist debut with a music album composed by Bjorn Surrao and released by Anirudh Ravichander. [45] followed by "Hey Babe" composed by Bjorn Surrao and released by Think Music and "Break up song" in his directorial film "The Stealer" composed by Arul Danie.

Story writer

Kanna is the author of a fortnightly column that combines storytelling with aeronautical science in The Hindu Young World Magazine and Sun Shine Patrika.

Chennai is home to many educational and research institutions. IIT Madras, located in South Chennai is considered as the premier centre of engineering education in India. Anna University and the University of Madras are the oldest state owned universities which are ranked among the best universities in India. The College of Engineering, Guindy and Madras Institute of Technology, which are the constituent college of Anna University along with Alagappa College of Technology are the pioneer institutes of engineering education in India. Some of the oldest medical colleges India, the Madras Medical College (1835) and Stanley Medical College (1938) are located in the city. Notable, liberal arts colleges in the city include Loyola College, Madras Christian College, Presidency College, Stella Maris College, Women's Christian College and Ethiraj College for Women.

Subaskaran Allirajah is a British-Sri Lankan Tamil entrepreneur. He is the founder and chairman of Lycamobile, a telecommunications company. He is also a producer of Tamil films and Hindi Films through his entertainment subsidiary Lyca Productions, based in Chennai, India, and began with its first film Kaththi (2014). It produced the science fiction thriller 2.0 (2018), which was India's most expensive film and the 5th most expensive non-English-language film at the time of its release. Lyca Productions has also produced Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022) and Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023) which are both Tamil cinema releases.

Ajay Rathnam is an Indian actor who has worked predominantly in Tamil films and serials apart from some Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada films. He is known for his supporting and negative roles and has acted in over 300 movies. Standing at 6 ft 4 in, Rathnam is one of the tallest actors in Tamil cinema.

Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan is an Indian politician belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party. She served as the second Governor of Telangana, and also served as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry from 18 February 2021 to 18 March 2024. She was the National Secretary and Tamil Nadu State Unit President of the BJP prior to this appointment.

Pa. Ranjith is an Indian film director, screenwriter and film producer who primarily works in Tamil cinema. He made his directorial debut with the 2012 romantic comedy Attakathi, before earning unanimously positive reviews for his second film, the political action-drama Madras (2014). He wrote and directed the action-drama films Kabali in 2016 and Kaala in 2018, both starring Rajinikanth.

<i>Naalu Peruku Nalladhuna Edhuvum Thappilla</i> 2017 Indian film

Naalu Peruku Nalladhuna Edhuvum Thappilla is a 2017 Tamil-language heist film written and directed by debutant Dinesh Selvaraj. It is a crowdfunded film produced by Alpha Studios. Alpha Studios themselves did the distribution of the film. The film features Karthik Raj, Jagadeesh Kanna, Shariya, and Evan Shri in the lead roles. Navin and Bjorn Surrao composed the film score while Anirudh Ravichander sung the promo song. Cinematography was handled by A.T.Bagath Singh and the film was edited by Xavier Thilak. Production was designed by Alpha Studios and action sequences were designed and choreographed by Run Ravi.

The Chennai Football League, also formerly known as the Madras Football League, is the group of state-level football leagues in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, including the top-level CFA Senior Division League. The League is organised by the Chennai Football Association (CFA), which is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Football Association (TNFA), the official football governing body of the state.

Vaayusastra Aerospace is an educational firm combining theatre and aeronautics, with the goal of taking aeronautical knowledge to every village in India. Vaayusastra Aerospace is incubated and funded under IIT Madras's Rural Technology and Business Incubator (RTBI). Vaayusastra publish a fortnightly column that combines storytelling with aeronautical science in The Hindu Young World Magazine. Vaayusastra creates theatre and hands-on activity based educational curriculum for school and college students in the field of Aeronautics and Aerospace. The company is headquartered in Chennai. Its services help up to 100,000 customers from 2018.
