Jagadeesh Kanna (born September 22, 1988) is an Indian stage actor, [1] playwright, film director, and lyricist best known for writing and directing The Stealer, An Experimental film with A non linear take on Hero's journey concept in combination with Rashomon effect, with multiple award recognitions. [2] [3] and Oru Cup Coffee, a short film on mercy killing. [4] and Never Give Up, a play inspired by the life of Olympic athlete Derek Redmond. Kanna [5] [6] [1] had his acting debut as the lead in the crowd-funded Tamil film Naalu Peruku Nalladhuna Edhuvum Thappilla (2017). [7] [8] He is also the founder and CEO of Vaayusastra Aerospace, [9] [10] an educational and research firm combining theatre and aeronautics, with the goal of taking aeronautical knowledge to every village in India. Vaayusastra Aerospace is incubated and funded under IIT Madras's RTBI. Jagadeesh Kanna was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, to a Saurashtrian palkar father and mother. He grew up in Thanjavur, India, reached Chennai for post graduation education where he attended IIT Madras as PhD Course work student in creative writing - humanities and sciences department and Hindustan University as a master's degree student in aeronautical engineering. [19] [20] He has a bachelor's degree in aeronautics from Nehru Institute of Engineering Technology, Coimbatore. While in college, he worked as an actor for The Little Theatre and served as joint secretary of the cultural committee for Hindustan University. [21] Kanna is a co-founder and CEO of Vaayusastra Aerospace, [22] an educational firm combining theatre arts, aeronautics and practical sciences, which is officially recognized as "Rural Technology Development Firm" by Indian Institute of Technology Madras and incubated under the Rural Technology Business Incubator, which falls under India's Ministry of Science and Technology. As CEO of Vaayusastra Aerospace Kanna created a theatre based aeronautics and aerospace curriculum for children from age five onwards, [26] heads the R&D unit of Vaayusastra which focuses on various aerospace research areas in aerostats, aerodynes, space suits, [27] [P 1] cube satellites [28] [29] and rocket control systems. Kanna was featured in IIT Madras innovation series for his contribution and research in aeronautics and aerospace education. [30] He writes a fortnightly series in Hindu Young World under the title "Sky High". It is a re-imaginative version of the Ramayana with Hanuman and Megnath as the primary characters and the story narrated from an aeronautical and aerospace science perspective. [31] Kanna was featured in a Tamil hybrid web series titled Theervai Nokki for his works in Vaayusastra Aerospace and featured several times in IIT Madras Incubation Cell articles related to aeronautics and education. Under his leadership Vaayusastra achieved ISRO Space Tutor status. [32] and Team Vaayusastra become Drone training partner for Government of Tamil Nadu initiative TNSDC Naan Mudhalvan Program to train 3600 Engineering college students., [33] Vaayusastra has achieved the Candidacy status with Council for International American Accreditation, Newyork with support of Dr.Mohanalakshmi, Regional Director AIAASC.
Kanna began his stage career in pantomimes for The Little Theatre from 2009 to 2012. He continued performing for several years. [34] [35] The Madras Mag published his short story AnnaParavai. [36] In 2015, he performed in The Hindu Theatre fest. He was seen in Grand Rehearsals in Chennai to positive reviews. [37] In addition to stage work, he acted in Tamil feature films Naalu Peruku Nalladhuna Edhuvum Thappilla (2017) [38] and Thirai kadal (awaiting for release) In addition to working as an assistant director for Sarvam Thaala Mayam (2019) and 90 ML (2019),Kanna directed a feature film titled "The Stealer" and short film titled Oru Cup Coffee. [43] [44] Kanna had his lyricist debut with a music album composed by Bjorn Surrao and released by Anirudh Ravichander. Tamil Nadu is the southernmost state of India. The Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced (JEE-Advanced) is an academic examination held annually in India that tests the skills and knowledge of the applicants in physics, chemistry and mathematics. It is organised by one of the seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs): IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Guwahati, under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) on a round-robin rotation pattern for the qualifying candidates of the Joint Entrance Examination – Main(exempted for foreign nationals and candidates who have secured OCI/PIO cards on or after 04-03-2021). Saarang is the annual social and cultural festival of IIT Madras. It is a 5-day long festival usually in the second week of the year. Founded in 1974, Saarang is the second oldest college festival in India. It was started in the name of 'Mardi Gras' with a small number of quizzes and music events. Naalu Peruku Nalladhuna Edhuvum Thappilla is a 2017 Tamil-language heist film written and directed by debutant Dinesh Selvaraj. It is a crowdfunded film produced by Alpha Studios. Alpha Studios themselves did the distribution of the film. The film features Karthik Raj, Jagadeesh Kanna, Shariya, and Evan Shri in the lead roles. Navin and Bjorn Surrao composed the film score while Anirudh Ravichander sung the promo song. Cinematography was handled by A.T.Bagath Singh and the film was edited by Xavier Thilak. Production was designed by Alpha Studios and action sequences were designed and choreographed by Run Ravi.
AgniKul Cosmos Private Limited is an Indian private aerospace manufacturer based in National Centre for Combustion Research and Development (NCCRD) of IIT Madras, Chennai. The start up aims to develop and launch its own small-lift launch vehicle such as the Agnibaan, capable of placing 100 kg (220 lb) payload into a 700 km (430 mi) orbit. The first commercial launch was expected in 2022. The first suborbital test vehicle was successfully launched on 30 May 2024. This mission achieved several notable milestones including world’s first flight with a single-piece 3D-printed engine, India’s first semi-cryo engine launch and India's first launch from a private launch pad.
