Jagmal Singh was a sixteenth century Indian prince and court figure. He was the son of Maharana Udai Singh II and Rani Dheer Bai Bhattiyani. [1]

Biography

After the death of Udai Singh II his favorite wife, Dheerbai Bhatiyani, wanted Jagmal to succeed Maharana Udai Singh after his death even though he was not the eldest son. [2] On his deathbed, Udai Singh II named Jagmal Singh as the next Maharana. Jagmal was to be crowned as Maharana of Udaipur in 1572; however, the nobles of the court instead crowned Maharana Pratap. Jagmal left Mewar and went into the service of the Mughal Subedar in Ajmer, who gave him shelter. Later he met Akbar and was given the jagir of Jahazpur as a gift. Sometime before 1581, he married the daughter of Maharao Man Singh II of Sirohi and became the co-ruler of half of Sirohi in 1581.[ citation needed ] His brother-in-law and ruler of Sirohi Rao Surtan became his enemy after this. He was killed by Rao Hammirji of Chandana on 17 October 1583 at the Battle of Dattani. [6]

Udai Singh II was the 12th Maharana of the Kingdom of Mewar and the founder of the city of Udaipur in the present-day state of Rajasthan, India. He was the fourth son of Rana Sanga and Rani Karnavati, a princess of Bundi.

Shakti Singh Sisodia Mewar was the son of Maharana Udai Singh II Sisodia and Rani Sajja Bai Solanki. He was a Kshatriya Rajput and was younger brother of famous Maharana Pratap, He was also the eponymous founder of the Shaktawat clan of Sisodia Rajputs.

Jaiwanta Bai Songara, also known as Maharani Jaiwanta Bai, was the queen of the Kingdom of Mewar. She was the chief consort and first wife of Udai Singh II, and the mother of Maharana Pratap.

Prithviraj Sisodia, generally known as Kunwar Prithviraj, was the eldest son of Maharana Raimal of Mewar and heir apparent of Mewar, of the Sisodia Rajputs. His mother was Jhali Rani Ratan Kanwar. His rapidity of moving from one place to another and lightning speed of attack earned him the title of Udno Prithviraj, the flying Prithviraj. He added the regions of Godwar and Ajmer to the territory of Mewar.

Dheer Bai Bhattiyani, also known as Rani Dheer Bai, was the third and favourite wife of Udai Singh II, the 12th Rana of Kingdom of Mewar. Dheer Bai was the mother of Jagmal Singh, Maan Bai and Chand Bai.
