Ghosts are an important and integral part of the folklore of the socio-cultural fabric of the geographical and ethno-linguistic region of Bengal which presently consists of Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal. Fairy tales, both old and new, often use the concept of ghosts. References to ghosts are often found in modern-day Bengali literature, cinema, radio and television media. There are also many alleged haunted sites in the region. The common word for ghosts in Bengali is bhoot or bhut. This word has an alternative meaning: 'past' in Bengali. Also, the word Pret is used in Bengali to mean ghost. In Bengal, ghosts are believed to be the unsatisfied spirits of human beings who cannot find peace after death or the souls of people who died in unnatural or abnormal circumstances like murders, suicides or accidents. Non-human animals can also turn into ghosts after their death.

<i>Jaago</i> (2010 film) 2010 Bangladeshi film

Jaago is a 2010 Bangladeshi sports drama film written and directed by Khijir Hayat Khan. The film features Ferdous and Bindu in lead roles and with supporting Arifin Shuvoo, Sharlin Farzana, Tariq Anam Khan, Rawnak Hasan, FS Nayeem and many more. It claims to be the first Bangladeshi film based entirely on football or any other sports. The story of Jaago is said to be inspired by the Shadhin Bangla football team, who raised funds during the Liberation War (1971) through charity matches and lifted the morale of the freedom fighters.

Kiriti Roy is a fictional detective of Bengali literature created by Dr. Nihar Ranjan Gupta. The first story introduces him as follows: "Kiriti Roy is six and a half feet tall, fair and stout. His curled hair is mostly combed back, and the black celluloid spectacles make his clean-shaven face highly attractive." In his own words, "In this universe, virtue and sin reside in parallel. Reward for virtue and scorn for sin is the thumb rule of the universe."

Asian Radio was a Bangladeshi Bengali-language radio station broadcast on FM radio. It was based in Dhaka, and was a sister network to Asian TV. It began broadcasting on 18 January 2013. It commenced official transmissions on 23 September 2013. The station was later shut down.

It is privately run by Radio Masala Limited and developed by the present CEO Tasnim Borsha Islam, who had always been a fan of radio and dance music.

Abul Fayez Muhammad Khalid Hossain, popularly known as Dr. A F M Khalid Hossain, is a Bangladeshi Deobandi Islamic scholar, educator, writer, researcher, editor, international Islamic speaker and social reformer. He is the Former Vice-president of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, Education Adviser of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, editor of monthly At-Tawheed and assistant editor of Balagh al-Sharq. He was the Professor and Head of Department of Islamic History and Culture at Omargani MES College and Central President of the Islami Chhatra Samaj, student wing of Nizam-e-Islam Party. He has published more than two hundred research articles in various journals, including The World Muslim League Journal. He has edited 3 to 9 volumes of the second edition of Islami Bishwakosh and Sirat encyclopedia, published by Islamic Foundation Bangladesh.
