Jakob Anderson (born September 16, 1980) is an American fishing captain of the FV Titan Explorer. He was previously the captain and co-owner of the FV Saga. [1] Since 2007, Anderson has been featured in the Discovery Channel documentary television series Deadliest Catch . [2]
In 2007 Anderson was hired as a greenhorn by Captain Sig Hansen aboard the Northwestern . Anderson made his Deadliest Catch debut in the episode New Beginnings, which aired on May 15. [3] In 2012, Anderson was promoted to deck boss of the Northwestern , [4] and later that year, he obtained his USCG Mate 1600-ton license and Master 100-ton Captain's license. [5] Starting in 2015, Anderson captained the crab fishing vessel Saga. In 2023 the Saga was put up for sale. Anderson bought and became captain of the crab fishing vessel Titan Explorer. [6]
Anderson has endured personal tragedies while on Deadliest Catch , including being notified that his sister, Chelsea Dawn Anderson, had unexpectedly died during the season five episode fourteen "Bitter Tears". [7] [8] During season six, episode eleven "Blown Off Course" he learned that his father, Keith Anderson, had gone missing and was presumed dead after his truck was found abandoned in rural Washington. [9] [10] In 2012, the skeletal remains of Anderson's father were found by a hiker about a mile away from where his truck had been found. [11]
Anderson and his wife, Jenna, live in Seattle, Washington, with their three children. [12] [13] Anderson is an avid skateboarder and is sponsored by the American footwear and clothing company DVS Shoes. [14] He has a signature skateboard shoe released through the company. [15]
During an interview with Dr. Drew Pinsky, Anderson revealed that he is a recovering alcoholic and his addiction left him homeless for two years. [16]
His autobiography titled Relapse was released April 29, 2014 through Coventry House Publishing [17] and became a bestseller. [18]

Deadliest Catch: Bloodline is an American documentary and reality television series that premiered on April 14, 2020, on the Discovery Channel. Bloodline is a spin-off of Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch. In contrast to the program's usual setting in the Bering Sea during crab fishing season, Bloodline is set in Hawaii. The show's three-seasons follow fishermen Josh Harris, his business partner Casey McManus, and Jeff Silva as they investigate scribbles and notes found on Hawaiian fishing charts left by Josh's late father, Phil Harris. Bloodline was launched the same day as the season 16 premiere episode of Deadliest Catch. Discovery cancelled the series and removed all episodes from its Discovery+ streaming service in September 2022 after renewed attention was brought to a 1999 sexual assault case involving Harris.
M/S Stålbas, formerly the Norwegian Coast Guard cutter Stålbas offshore patrol vessel, is a multifunction cargo vessel.
