Jacob Fox (born July 4, 1996) is a former professional lacrosse player with the Halifax Thunderbirds of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). He was selected in the 2nd round, 19th overall by the New York Riptide in the 2019 NLL Entry Draft. [1] He has also played for the Albany FireWolves and Panther City Lacrosse Club. Early life and education

Jake Fox grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, and attended the Hill Academy, a sports academy in Vaughan. [4] In 2013, he was drafted 19th overall by the Peterborough Jr. A Lakers. [5] During his five years with the Lakers, he went on to captain the team in his final season while finishing top 10 in the league in goals, assists, points, and penalty minutes. [6]

Collegiate career

Fox joined Johns Hopkins as a top recruit, ranked as the #36 freshman and #9 freshman midfielder in the nation by Inside Lacrosse. During his four-year career with the Blue Jays, he played in 23 games, scored 3 goals, and recorded 3 assists. [3]

Professional career

Fox's professional career began when he was drafted in the 2nd round, 19th overall in the 2019 NLL Entry Draft by the New York Riptide. [1] In his first game, he scored 1 goal and recorded 2 assists, leading him to be named NLL Rookie of the Week. [7]

In 2023, he joined the Albany FireWolves, following a brief period with the Panther City Lacrosse Club, where he was acquired by Panther City via trade in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2024 Entry Draft and a third-round pick in the 2026 Entry Draft. [8] On January 5, 2024, he was released by the FireWolves from the Evaluation list. [9]

On February 22, 2024, he was signed to a one-year practice roster contract with the Halifax Thunderbirds, after which he was placed on the long-term Injured Reserve list. [9]

In Major Series Lacrosse (MSL), he was a member of the 2018 Mann Cup champions Peterborough Lakers.

International play

As a member of the Iroquois Nationals, he won bronze at the 2018 FIL World Championships. He has been a public advocate for the inclusion of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Nationals in international competition, including the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. [10]

David "Big Daddy" Brock is a professional lacrosse player for the Halifax Thunderbirds of the National Lacrosse League. He played college lacrosse at the University at Albany, and was selected seventh overall in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft by the Boston Blazers. Brock played two games with the blazers in 2011, before being released. He then signed with the Philadelphia Wings, with whom he spent two seasons, before being traded to the Bandits in 2012. Since then it has been hard to keep track of where David has played, he has packed his suitcase almost as much as Ryan Benesch.

Nick Weiss is a professional lacrosse player for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and the Peterborough Lakers of Major Series Lacrosse. Hailing from Port Hope, Ontario, Weiss began his career with the Peterborough Junior Lakers of the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League, with whom he played from 2010 to 2013, before being called up to the MSL Lakers in 2014.

Mitchell "Mitch" Wilde is a professional lacrosse player for the New York Riptide of the National Lacrosse League and the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks of Major Series Lacrosse. Hailing from Brooklin, Ontario, Wilde attended Donald A. Wilson Secondary School, where he was named MVP of his lacrosse team in 2008 and 2009. He played collegiality at Robert Morris University.

Dan Teat is a retired professional lacrosse player and former assistant coach for the Panther City Lacrosse Club of the National Lacrosse League. A native of Brampton, Ontario, Teat's long lacrosse career began when he was five years old in the Brampton Minor Lacrosse Association. He made his debut with the Brampton Jr. Excelsiors of the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League in 1988, winning the league's rookie of the year award. Teat began playing for the Major Excelsiors of Major Series Lacrosse in 1993, once again winning his league's rookie of the year award. His association with the Excelsiors would last over two decades, and he was a forward on squads that won Mann Cup championships in 1993, 1998, 2002, 2008 and 2009.

Evan Kirk, is a Canadian professional lacrosse goaltender in the National Lacrosse League, currently playing for the Rochester Knighthawks and for the Peterborough Lakers of the Major Series Lacrosse. He was a member of Team Canada during the 2010 World Lacrosse Championship.

Bryce Sweeting is a professional lacrosse player for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and the Peterborough Lakers of Major Series Lacrosse. The 2020 National Lacrosse League season, formally known as the 2019–2020 season, was the 34th in the history of the NLL. The Interstate Box Lacrosse Association (IBLA) was a men's senior box lacrosse league based in the United States. From 2019 to 2021, the IBLA served as an official partner of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), operating as a minor developmental funnel. The league was founded in 2017 to unite regional senior leagues into a system similar to the Canadian Lacrosse Association structure of men's Senior A and Senior B box lacrosse teams. In 2021 there were 52 total teams playing in 17 regional leagues. The Seneca Marksmen were the most last IBLA champions, defeating the Grand Rapids Grizzlies in Lakeland, Florida on September 19, 2021.

Graeme Hossack is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays as a defenseman for the Halifax Thunderbirds of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and Archers Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). In 2020, Hossack became the second player to be named the NLL Defensive Player of the Year for three consecutive years after Kyle Rubisch won four straight from 2012–15.

Randy Staats is a professional lacrosse player with the Halifax Thunderbirds in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and the Six Nations Chiefs of the Major Series Lacrosse (MSL). He was drafted 6th overall by the Georgia Swarm in the 2015 NLL Entry Draft. He also played in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) and Major League Lacrosse (MLL), drafted 29th overall in the 2015 MLL Entry Draft.
